My 240sx Project... ON THE ROAD!!

So here is my new project. 1990 240sx hatch. It's been going on now for 3 or 4 weeks now.
Soon to be SR powered (Sorry Everett)

The engine is sitting in there but I have to get some recent pics.
It's come some ways from these pics. I'm going today to get some more. Ill update.

Body is super duper straight, shaved body line, shaved wiper (cause I drive forwards not backwards) and shaved engine bay.

I haven't heard anything from the head shop, but I'm sure it a burnt exhaust valve on number 2. I'll hear more tomorrow.

Not much as far as motor work goes. Just the everyday SR swap.
The nice thing about me having to pull the head off is that I got to see the factory cross-hatch pattern on the cylinder walls.

-Engine...

I'll be runnning 600cc injectors, blitz ecu, turbo xs intercooler and top mount manifold, turbonetics evolution wastegate and garett t3/t4 setup. Nothing special. Hoping for 350 or so.

I'm also running a FReddy intake manifold and FReddy oil pan. JDM tyte fo sho.

-Suspension and Braking...

5 lug conversion (rolling the old S14 SE wheels as well), TT brakes, drilled and slotted brakes all around.
Ground control coilovers, and suspension techniques sway bars.

-Other goodies...

B&M short shifter
J30 VLSD

Because you have to paint the door handles and not the taillights.I understand that.But you are changing the color.So it would seem to me that you would want color to get in behind the lights so that there is less chance of peeling because of the lack of sanding around the lights.

Well after 5 months and waiting for the shop to get the rest done, I got it home to throw the engine in and start assembling.
I still have intercooler piping to do, wiring (hiding), and some little things here and there. Should be done soon, hopefully. No job and no money has made this project a little tougher, but I have another job so I can finally finish it.

Well its been painted for 2 months now but it took them almost 3 months to paint the bumper. I think that's enough time to cure?!? Thank for the suggestions. How long does it take to cure? The top still has to be painted and the whole car is gonna be wet sanded and buffed out.

Also I'll be doing a black interior swap. From the factory this car came with blue interior being a 90 and white. But no worries, I have chuki swapped it. LOL. I might get the factory one peices leather wrapped, black dash, carpet, and all plastics.

Alrighty.... I know it's been a while but I got it back to the shop so I can continue on it.... Gravel in the back doesn't feel so good, especially when you have so much work to do.

I have since sold the SR and paid some outstanding debt and decided with the money I had left over I'd go ahead and do a KA-T build up. I bought the motor from BigWill3855NWH, I bought most of my turbo things from bdp07NWH (turbo, manifold, injectors, turbo elbow) I ordered a few things from JGS tools like my oil line kit and oil return bung. I've had my intercooler from the SR build and luickily they sent me both SR and KA cold pipes, so I'm good to go as far as that goes. Here are some pictures of my progress over the last week.

1st day (Mostly just getting situated and prepping the motor to go in, wish I took more pics)

Engine bay looks really nasty, I used rubberized undercoating to coat the frame rails and some of the firewall where it was scratched.

There is no flake in the paint at all... It's pearl. It will soften up when I wet sand and buff it out. I admit it... it is a little bass boat ish. But if you google 08 Tahoe Burmuda Blue thats what it will look like when it is buffed.

So this is officially the longest drawn out build thread ever. Tomorrow it will be officially 1 year that this piece of shit will be down. I can't beleive it has taken this long.
I literally have 1 hour of work left on it and about 2 hours of tuning time. So it shouldnt be much longer. But not having a garage and this cold ass weather kinda puts motivation in the negatives. I will update soon with pics.

Got it to crank over today... no fire... but its has me a little more motivated. I think the walbro has seen better days, so my R33 pump is going in. NGKs, fuel lines and bleed the brakes and clutch and we should be on the road.

Well guys today is a wonderful day.... She started right up first try. I left the intercooler piping off of the turbo to make sure to blow all the garbage out.

Idle is really rough, I have to reseal my EGR block off plate and maybe a couple other small vacuum leaks and hopefully it'll settle down. Also I've noticed a small coolant leak under the intake... thats cool I still have to tie up all the loose ends.

It should be on the road this Sunday, but I'll have to stay out of boost. Im still running the 270s until Brandon can get out here and tune it for the 370s hopefully not this Sunday but next.

Anyone happen to have a O2 bung they could sell me?

I fixed all the vacuum leaks and she actually runs pretty good. I think I need to calibrate the TPS and possibly get the timing in check.

But as with most things I ran into another snag....

The way I originally ran my oil line was under the intake mani and around the back to make sure things were nice and neat.... But i didnt think about the line being steel braided and right below it is the starter. Well the starters positive post arched across to the oil line melted it causing it to be penetrated and leak... so essentially its actually a massive burden lifted off of me. I originally thought it was a coolant leak that turned out to be oil. So now all I have to do is replace the line (which might turn out to be harder than it plays out in my head) and bleed the clutch and brake lines.... And she is on the road. Its exciting, after a year of hard work and 5 trailerings to various places a quite a few bills, and also a long hard emotional roller coaster when things dont go quite as planned. But hearing it fire up, I fell in love all over again.

Good news... Just got back from Industrial Gasket and Rubber here in Nashville and for 45 dollars I had them make an exact replica of my original oil line. They also gave me a piece of plastic tubing to go around the line so that it will be insulated, no extra charge. So now I'm headed to throw that junk on and bleed some brakes. I'll be back to update shortly.
