Looks like ole Kenny boy will be DNFing in a Ford Fiesta this year in Rally America and a Ford Focus RS in the WRC. Oh well I guess there will be no love loss from me. Pastrana is a better rally driver anyway, as long as he stays with Subaru I will live.

good for him I hope he does well and possibly brings more popularity and US coverage to wrc. The new festiva looks great im curious how it will perform. Pastrana might be better but they both have big shoes to fill in the form of Peter Solberg and Colin Mcrae.
The focus is a much better rally car than the subaru in the 07 fasion and thats comming from a subaru owner. The bugeye subaru was a good rally car and the 555 gc was even better.

Pastrana comes in 1st or 2nd in every Rally America race I feel like if it's anyones time to graduate to WRC it's him but I'm sure he is contractually obligated to redbull and the have Sebastian Loed and now Kimi Raikkonen or their Junior team so I'd say they aren't really looking for new faces right now.

Hmm now it makes sense why he was "test driving" a Ford Focus at X-games this year.

Probably not. Subaru doesn't run in WRC anymore and Ford does. Ford needed a name to pick up fans from the US. Ken Block definitely has the fans. Talent wise I think he'll fall mid-pack, and would have liked to see Pastrana instead, but I'm sure there is more to it.

Agreed. I have never heard Pastrana's thoughts on the WRC, he might not even really be interested in it.

I read this earlier today and was pretty surprised. However, I imagine Ford is a much larger sponsor that could help him make it to the WRC.
The new car:

lol we'll see how this goes but to be honest i don't see him being able to compete with P. solberg, S. Loeb, M. Hirvonen, H. Solberg, J-M. Latvala, or any of those front runners. yes american rally is good. but the WRC guys are incredible. He will probably be in 10 ten but no where near the top! im curious to see Petter solberg in an up to date car.. he drove almost every event in a citrogen from 03.. and still got 5th in point.. once he got in the up today citrogen he really proved himself as a top contender for next season... to bad all we have is rally-x here.. i would sell my s13 in a heart beat for a rally car.

It kinda hurts me to see the subie go....but ya gotta do what ya gotta do i guess. I agree in not thinking he'll be able to compete with the big dogs. He's good.....but they're MUCH better. I'll be keeping an eye out to see how well he does

I did read in one of the interviews that he is aiming toward podium finishes by like 2012 I think. So at least he knows what he is getting himself into and that he's not gonna walk in and win.

90kacoupe:
i still think 2012 is a little far fetched. The rallies that these guys drive in are the by far the most insane roads your could possibly race on. Maybe im just being a little harsh but it takes those drivers quite a few years to learn those stages. Example: New stage in the polish rally i think it was.. Loeb is to close to the edge of the road and clips a tree trunk hiding under dirt, breaks his front suspension almost causes him to loose championship. The reason he hit it is because he didnt have it in his stage notes.
We'll see what happens. I just hope Petter Solberg gets a competitve car this year!

@Pastrana going to WRC, If he does he'll have to ditch the Subie. The whole reason Ken is in the Ford is to be able to drive WRC. Pastrana is an excellent driver but he'll never hit the big leagues with his STi. No turbo rule FTMFL.

no link to story = fail
But, Pastrana has plenty of other thing to keep him busy. I could see him gettin into D1 Drift full time.

i can see that. considering that most of the elite drifters have raced in other sanctions where traction was crucial. jgtc, nascar, irl, etc....
I cant see Pastrana entering D1 sorry dont think it will ever happen maybe the G1 series @ Ebisu. But hey there is always Formula D , if he can hang...

+1. I honestly don't see Ken Block standing on the podium, even in 2012. He has to finish his races first, but let's see how this turns out.
