I don't have a horse in the race, but I live in Knoxville (and yeah, I pull for the Vols in season...just not rabidly so). Guess what I have to hear for the next probably 3 months...

The stupid thing is that Fulmer wasn't the problem (well maybe for recruiting effing Crompton), it was a crap QB and no depth at the position. The holy trinity of Chuck Knoll, Bear Bryant, and Don Shula couldn't have coached a winning season in 08 at UT.

Oh well, this is why I am only loyal to the team I played for: Maryville College Fighting Scots (soccer). Our football team blew. :)

poor Tennessee, they can't catch a break to save their lives.

A year in review for Tennessee
first Fulmer is fired
UT hires Lane Kiffin
Kiffin opens mouth inserts foot about Urban Meyer
2 Vols football players arrested for attempted robbery w/ a pellet gun http://www.tnmustangclub.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif (seriously???? a pellet gun? really?)
Vols go 7-5 in their first season
Vols get spanked badly by Va. Tech in the Peach Bowl, finish 7-6.
4 Vols basketball players facing drug and gun charges (1 player dismissed, 3 others suspended indefinitely)
now Lane Kiffin bolts for USC after Pete Carroll bolts for the NFL.

well you guys have had one helluva year!!!! http://www.tnmustangclub.org/forums/images/smilies/rofl.gif

all I can say is "what the hell is next??????"

I love it...doesn't get any better than this.

Not big into sports but it def was a dick move on his part. But the way I see it, if usc could pay out 4mil a year for the head coach that just left.. They can afford the 800k to null kiffins contract.

Yeah it does. Kiffin has and always will be a USC/California boy. That's where his interests lie. No surprise here. He wouldn't have done this for any other school. He wanted out of Tennessee, and I really think he couldn't handle the SEC and some real football too. It'll be funny the first bowl game between USC with Kiffin at the helm and an SEC team.

I'm not a UT fan... but that was such a shitty move. I hope USC comes out terrible.

Same here, but for different reasons. I'm a Bama fan since birth and hate UT, so this is all very funny to me. I was however looking forward to some good competition over the next few years. It's not the same rubbing it in to your UT friends when you're beating a team that's wounded. And I can't stand the media-darling USC either, so I do hope they flop the next few seasons too.

It was true too, because the police were there and things were burned.

This whole situation is great for Alabama fans. Nick Saban looks like a god compared to Kiffin. Nobody is going to remember him bailing out on the Dolphins after this :P

I think it would have been a lot worse if he had left for another school. Kiffin will always be a USC guy, that's his dream job, so I can't really fault him for that. But being a Vols fan, it was a very shitty move. I hope he fails over there and am looking forward to whomever the Vols pick up. Also, Mike Hamilton needs to be fired.

Who would want to go to USC right now? They're already under intense scrutiny from the NCAA because of the Reggie Bush and Joe McKnight drama, not to mention various other recruiting complaints.

In times like this you'd want one hell of an upstanding individual to represent your school and speak for them when you're being investigated for foul play.

SO WHY KIFFIN!? LOL!!!

This guy is the dirtiest motherfucker on the planet. A school that is already in trouble is bringing back a coach that can't stay out of trouble! This moron already has issues with his recruiting and keeping his mouth shut.

I predict some dark days ahead for USC. They're going to end up getting the death penalty with this moron at the fucking helm.

Lane Kiffin likes making headlines. He wants his name in the news. What better way to put your name in the news than this. Yes, USC is gonna have all kinds of violations coming there way with him being the head coach, but they are still going to win. They are still going to be good which I hate to say.

In other news, UT has contacted Phil Fulmer about becoming the AD at the school or even head football coach again. Haha how does that sound?

:dunno:
Pete Carroll also wasn't there for only a year after promising the world. UT finally felt like they were getting back on track, especially with the recruits that he was bringing in. Now he's either taking them with him or they've de-commited because Kiffin lied to them. It's a different situation than a coach leaving to the NFL. Carroll was also on the way down, where Kiffin appeared to be on the way up.

You should, while you're watching sports Saturday and Sunday....I'm plowing your girl. She likes going to lunch while you're parked in front of ESPN sports center jacking off to random guys that run with a ball, after lunch she runs with my balls....

So really....you should question your own sexuality. Sports happen on weekends, when a regular man is off from a normal job....that's when you spend time with your girl/family...not your boys watching men on TV.

Oh I definitly agree with you, but here is the problem with college football...They won't do that. They'll strip them of a couple scholarships and then make them vacate wins. Ohhhhhhh so scary! Wow so now they have to say the lost all the games in a season 2 years ago. What a penalty. I hate the way the NCAA does it, but thats how it works. Even if they loose scholarships, kids are still going to want to play at SoCal because Kiffin is there. They can still have 100 kids on there roster they just won't have as many scholarship players.

TCU and Alabama both went from consistent Top 10 teams to bottom of the barrel schools after their NCAA penalties. Not only that, but both were banned from playing in ANY bowl games for a certain period of time.

Both of their issues were much more dramatic, though. Hell, when TCU was with the SouthWest conference they repeatedly dominated. Their players were literally getting paid to play football.

You do realize he is already under contract to be the next head coach at Texas right? This will happen within the next 3-5 years. Why would he go to Tennessee when he already has that deal locked down?

That one isn't the one that bothered me...the one that got me was when Troy Calhoun wouldn't leave Air Force to come here. I know he is an AF grad and he doesn't have to put up with the "bad" side of college football. But I really thought he would come and that he would be a great fit.

Kiffin was a huge shit talker, but it was part of his game. What highschool football player doesn't want to go play for the coach that is a complete badass and has his name in a lil wayne song for it. He really let down all his players and fans with such an abrupt move even if it was his dream job. I have very strong feelings about this whole subject, but I know that there are people on this forum just waiting for a UT fan to say something so can enlarge their e-penis, so I will just everything to myself.

Honestly, I think losing His dad as the defensive coordinator might have been worse than losing lane. Also losing Layla... I will miss this woman.

Personally I don't understand why they don't interview Mark Mangino, Mike Leach, or Ken Sumlin.

If Mangino can take a team like Kansas who has no football presence and not much talent athletically to a 12-1 record and an orange bowl win over VA Tech, I'd like to see what he could do with some SEC talent. The guy knows offense and defense very well and his special teams units always perform well.

W/o getting too much into this, as I really could care less, Mack Brown is a legacy, and is one of the better coaches of our generation. Albeit that he did it in a weaker conference than our SEC. How can you call Brown a has been...when his team was just in the freaking National Championship Game? He's on the back end of his career, but he's by no means a has-been.

Also, there's much more $$$ to be had YOY at Texas than he'd make at Tennessee as a Head Coach. Unless you have any concrete figures that i don't know of?

You ever thought it might be the fact that he know's how tough the SEC is to coach in?

Has nothing to do with that. Coaching in Texas has it's own special set of problems.....As much as I think the state of Tennessee lives for football. We, the state of TN, are just the JV team compared to how crucial a part of life it is in TX.

Just a innocent AU fan/bystander...

Carry on!
