What that guy needs to not do is not be an instructor at all. What a pansy.
Lines looked fine to me.
Step one: Unclick passenger seat belt.
Step two: Slam on brakes.
Step three: Replace windshield.

He definitely could have done more instructing and less criticizing. I didn't think he was overly critical though just not very informative.

My thoughts as well... I would have pulled into the paddock and dropped that guy off at the nearest stall, then continued to enjoy myself on the track. That sucks...

"You don't know about smooth?" What a shithead. I would start to drive like a crazed Ray Charles after that remark just to make him fear for his life. Beautiful track though.

I think he was overly critical, and a dickhead on top of that. The only thing he did the entire time was belittle him. Stuff like that would bother most people, especially in a new environment. There was also no instructing going on. It's one of your many job as the in-car instructor to take control of the driver as well help him progress his driving. You do that through communication. If he isn't following your instructions, you pull into the pits and discuss. If the driver will not cooperate, you park him and go speak with the chief instructor.

Sad thing was, his line looked at least halfway decent for a first timer?
Instructing is more helpful when it's "Do this instead" rather than "That was wrong. And that was wrong too. More wrong."
And then he wants to get out of the car? Jackass.

Not the safest thing to do, but a part of me SO would have loved to seen the driver pull over mid track and drop his ass off in the grass somewhere.

Yeah, I'd have gone to the chief instructor with that video and sent it to the head of every NASA/SCCA region. No more free track time for you...
A good instructor is worth his/her weight in gold.
Last time I was at VIR (DE-1 so mandatory instructor), I rolled out easy for the first session, I felt like I was in "Sunday drive" mode. My instructor, on the other hand, was absolutely losing his mind. You would have thought I was drivign on two wheels and was headed for a brick wall. After a couple of turns of pant-sharting hyperventilation from this dude, I finally, in as calm a voice as I could, told him, "Dude, you need to settle down. I am NO WHERE NEAR the limit of the tires and you are making me nervous."
He did, and the rest of the event was fine. He was a good instructor, but just not prepared to give any benefit of the doubt...in a way I couldn't blame him so he still got a good review.

Yeah, i drop his ass off to the side after the second curve. I read all the comments some 216 of them, funny stuff in there. Love'd how HOD thought they'd keep it internally. Bought my stepfather one of the Go Pro HD motorsport camera's because he is into the grassroot's driving like i am. Great investment. Wonder if that kid got free lessons after that.
