This is kinda a repost....but I wanted to put it over here for those of you who never check the Events/Meets Subforum.

Yes…..You heard it correctly, and it’s official! Import Alliance will be tag-teaming with Tennessee Drift to bring one of the greatest spectacles in motorsports to the FifthTennial meet this summer. This years meet promises to be bigger and better than ever and will be even more exciting when the tires start spinning, the cars start sliding, and the rubber starts burning on the track of the Nashville Superspeedway. The drift competition will give drifters in this area an opportunity to perform on a world class stage. With ImportAlliance growing every year, this year’s event will be huge! The event will also serve as round 3 of the Tennessee Drift points series. The Course will be a challenging and exciting opportunity to demonstrate the sliding skills of all of the participants and will be held on the road course of the superspeedway inside turns 1 and 2. If you are interested in participating register now by visiting http://nextgearinc.com/wordpress/?page_id=368.

any idea if the cancelling of the tn drift season is going to affect the import alliance drift?

It is not going to impact the ImportAlliance Meet. We are in the process of making the necessary adjustments to ensure that drifting will be a feature of the 2010 ImportAlliance Summer Meet. Check out website for details on what will be happening. Like I said we do have to make some adjustments but I think the adjustments will open it up to more individuals interested in participating. so have things been smoothed over at NSS? I would assume if they are allowing drifting at IA then that means we aren't banned and precautions have been made to ensure vandalism is no longer an issue?

Among other things, yes.

Trying to coordinate two large venues to work together isn't an easy task, and at some point it just didn't work out.

dude, an event as heavy as IA is gonna bring out some great grassroots drivers, probably even some Pro Am guys as well. just because you dont drive every event in FD doesnt mean you cant be a good contender and not put on a great show. some of the best drivers in the sport are still coming up through the ranks. not to mention, fender to fender tandem damage is alot easier to swallow if youre not driving some $100,000 pro car owned by a factory backed sponsor with politics influencing alot of your decisions on the track. i say bring on these rowdy dudes that are out there to drive their heart out.

i know for a fact that this will bring up some of the SEDA guys and hell, im willing to bet this may even bring out some midwest allstars coming down there to represent.

i think this is a great thing for IA and i look forward to seeing how it turns out!

An All RWD motorsport (drifting) matted with a 95% All FWD spectator event makes worlds of sense to me.

PS....bitter Time Attacker...(yes I drift too, but still)

I hope some talented drivers sign up...

I mean, there is nothing wrong with growing the sport with grassroots events, but this event also doubles as entertainment due to the extremely high number of spectators.
