Finally got the pics from my friend. Me and my good friend Jonathan(invisibledemon) installed my coilovers a while back. Here are some pics of them.

These coilovers are a revalved KW V3 Variant. The spring rates are more linear than a conventional KW. They are 500/400.
I cant wait to get these bad boys on the track, since they are meant for it... :) I also have another suprise I have yet to take pics of...and that will be up soon.

Time to unpack these suckers.

My friend in the silver EK civic with orange wheels only had 4 hours sleep and he was doing just fine and I only got 5 hours of sleep and we stuck around to the end to enjoy a beer with everyone else.

And leaving early is frowned upon. Not sure if they are still sticking the rules for leaving early from last year, but if they are, that means that you will have to work an event before you can run again.

A little bit of info on how things finished up in the Street Modified class, the top 6 were Honda/Acura, Mustang, and a VW. The bottom half of the class was STI's and EVO's lol.

If you want to get better, you'll need to spend more time out there and even hand over the keys to an experienced driver to show you what you are not doing (that is really the best thing you could ever do).

I am glad your friend did fine...but I was without cold water (no money) and little food...was kind of weak. And as far as leaving early, I left after working two sessions and running once. I did not get to run my last time. So I highly doubt that I will have to work another session when if I had stayed I would have just ran 4 times and then packed up. I had nothing to make up for, I worked more than I ran. And just so you know, this was my third autocross ever and I am still trying to learn, I will ride with someone next time. But I honestly believe that spoolie has no life, this thread if you look before spoolie's post is from October...I mean come on Spoolie, if you are going to have some criticizing comment...why not have good critisism..I do not flaunt my car, I simply am trying to learn. Also I am a student with low funds and trying to build my car while learning to drive it. So excuse me for not having a full track car. I am still running on stupid cheap tires and OEM sways...all I have is coilovers..and have not been able to put anything into my car since last summer. Maybe you should start trying to inspire people to do better then bring them down about what they are trying to get better at.

The key to auto-x is starting small and working up. You did just like I have and instantly went to Street Mod. Gonna be at the bottom of the pack for a while. If I would serious about Auto-X, I would start with a bone stock/slightly modded Miata.

autoxDC2
04-27-2009, 11:09 AM
If you worked both your sessions then you're fine. I didn't see you leave, I just didn't see you in the last run group. A lot of people left including the rest of the EVO's and STI's.

The top 6 were on slicks and auto-x every week. The evos and subarus were all novices on street tires, so don't break your arm patting yourself on the back.

That does make a considerable difference... Knowing the car/adjusting to course will almost always outweigh how much someone has in their car, mechanically.

I would like to see you do some of the bigger track events - that would help you out as far as high-speed car control and braking zones, as well. You've got a great car - don't worry about tires, brakes, etc... you'll grow into all of that as YOU get faster (not the car). Do you plan to run the Mustang track event? That's all that I can afford this year, honestly, but I'll be there as well. It'd be cool to see your car up close and to watch you run (and see you learn the track, gain experience, and/or make mistakes then correct them and become even faster as a benefit).

I'd start out small and set your goal of being able to match Jesse Schuster's time. He drives a stock WRX, so you should be able to beat him with a stock STi.

Make a cooler for drinks your next mod!

I want to do bigger track events definitely because my car is built for higher speeds with the engine setup. I appreciate your compliments and I would really like to either ride with you or you can ride with me just so I can learn more about the right things to do in racing since you have way more experience than me. I love autox, however, I really want to know track because racing at higher speeds is what I like the most. I will look into the Mustang event, I really think it would be a great event to start out on. Thank you for reminding me :)

Absolutely, I really am just looking to match scores with moderate drivers with stock/mildly modded wrx's and work from there. And definitely will bring a cooler..I had bought one for the first event (styrofoam) but this next time I am getting a plastic one that is easier to manage.

Ya man was nice to meet you as well, ya from going to bed way to late and not having a cooler...it really got to me as well. I knew right before I staged that it might end bad. LOL, hey now, it was my first time on slicks and my first auto x for this year. But ya.. experience is still more valuable. I would have been curious to drive one of the EVO or STI's to see what kind of time I could put down in one just to compare.

Track days are a lot of fun. I suggest you not doing them, because then you'll never wanna auto cross again lol. That's how I feel, but it's still nice to get out and tear up the auto cross course every once in a while.

Talk about off topic... Thought this was about Racecomp coilovers. Don't we already have a thread for AutoX. BTW, they are very nice units. They ride very well, just need to get them tuned in Potts. Just keep doingwhat your doing as far as learning, everyone starts somewhere. Ignore the haters, I am sure they absolutly blow at driving anyhow...
