Tennessee region is hosting our first event of the year. It will be at our site behind John Roberts Toyota. This place is huge with slight gentle elevation changes.
Location:
Behind John Roberts Toyota,
2610 Hillsboro Rd, Manchester, Tn 37355, ph#(931) 723-4444
Schedule:
Saturday – Test and Tune
Saturday Night – Social Mixer
Sunday – Event
Test and Tune:
On Saturday, we will have several mini courses set up that you can go drive and re-drive as much as you want. Also there will be seasoned rallycross instructors to ride along if you wish.
Social Mixer:
After the Test and Tune, we will get together in the banquet room at the Ramada Inn. There will be few door prizes. We will get food delivered a couple times throughout the evening from Wingers. Bring your own, drink some of ours, or drink somebody elses…we will have beer!!!
Hotel:
The Ramada Inn
2314 Hillsboro Blvd., US 41 & I-24
Manchester, TN 37355
(931) 728-0800
We highly recommend staying at the Ramada Inn, it is nice and clean and relatively inexpensive and we use the banquet room for our get-together. In the morning it has breakfast served there. Mention SCCA when you make your reservation to get the discount. Cost is $50 per room for 1 or 2 people. If you have more than that in one room, talk to ‘NISH’ or nancy and see what they will charge you. This includes an executive continental breakfast each morning. They have a beautiful breakfast buffet area that we are going to use Saturday night for eating, drinking and socializing.
Cost:
$30 for the event on Sunday
$50 for both Saturday and Sunday
We will need help putting on this event, please post here if are willing to help and in what capacity. Also post here if you have any questions..
Maps and a video of the site can be found here:

Sorry about the short notice. For future reference, the blog has the whole year's schedule on it. The next event in Manchester is June.
You can definitely come out on either day individually, but Sunday is the event. A lot of people just cone out Saturday night then Sunday for the event.
The test and tune on Saturday will include instructor ride-alongs...

Another question that I couldn't find the answer to on the website, what kind of safety equipment do you need to run? DOT approved helmet? Any other special requirements or is it just show up with $30 and your car? (Sorry if I'm sounding like a noob to this, well because.....I am. haha)

Technically it needs to be a Snell rated M2000 or newer helmet (check the inside). Most DOT helmets are at least that good.
Your car has to pass tech which is basically all lugs/studs, battery held down well, etc etc. I don't remember all the things that could fail you , but those are the ones I remember.
Anything that passes tech at an autocross.
We welcome all noobs with any questions!!! And during the day, ride-alongs are always welcome.

A crack in the windshield is probably a no go huh?

A crack in the windshield is probably a no go huh?
Not necessarily. I'm still looking in the SCCA rulebook, but I don't think there's anything that specifically addresses cracked windshields.
Even so, I spoke with the guy organizing the event, and most likely it will be at the discretion of the Safety Steward and it really depends on the severity of the crack.
I'm not sure what will be severe enough to not pass, but I'm guessing it will most likely pass. Our tech inspections aren't too rigorous.
Can you post a picture up beforehand?

Here are the rules pertaining to passing tech:
All vehicles must pass safety inspection on the following points prior to
competing. This applies at each event entered. Entry fees, if already paid,
will be refunded if a car fails to pass the safety inspection. A safety
inspection is not concerned with class compliance.
A. All loose items, inside and outside the car (including the trunk and
storage areas), must be removed.
B. Snap"on hubcaps, detachable fender skirts and trim rings must be
removed.
C. Convertible, targa, or t"top vehicles must have their factory hard top or
panels securely in place during course runs.
D. Sunroofs must be fully closed unless vehicle is equipped with a net at the
opening and/or the driver is wearing arm restraints.
E. The driver’s window may not be down more than 1” during course runs
unless the vehicle is equipped with a window net and/or the driver is
using arm restraints. The same restriction applies to the passenger
window if there is a passenger.
F. Wheels must be safely affixed. They shall not be reversed so that the
lughole taper does not mate with the chamfer of the lugs. All studs and
lug nuts must be present, installed correctly and functional.
G. Tires must be in good condition, with no cord or belts showing or cracks
in the tread or sidewall.
H. Seat lap belts are required in all cars. Installation of shoulder and lap
belts is strongly recommended. Seat/shoulder belts must be properly
installed with attaching hardware secure and tight. Competitors are
required to wear seat belts when driving in competition. Additional belts
must be installed per the manufacturer’s recommendations.
I. Throttle return action shall be safe and positive.
J. No excessive fuel, oil, water or brake fluid leaks should be observed when
the engine is running.
K. Steering wheel "spinner" knobs are not permitted.
L. Brakes must have an adequate pedal, sufficient fluid in the master
cylinder and no apparent hydraulic leaks and shall be operational at all
four wheels. The vehicle must have a working parking/emergency brake
system.
M. Wheel bearings, shocks, steering, and suspension shall be in good
operating condition.
N. All batteries (on board power supplies) shall be attached to ensure that
the battery and/or power supply will remain in place. If a lead"acid (wet
cell) type battery is battery is relocated from its original location, it must
be equipped with leak"proof caps and enclosed in a non"conductive,
marine"type box. Dry cell batteries, commonly known as Recombinant
Gas (RG) or Glass Mat Technology (GMT) batteries, are not required to be
in a marine"type box. The hot terminal must be insulated on all vehicles.
All batteries shall be securely attached to the primary structure of the
vehicle.
O. Roll cages are strongly recommended in all cars. If installed it is strongly
recommended that roll cages be constructed according to the rules for
stage rally competition used in other sanctioning bodies.
P. Snell 1995 (SA95, M95, or K98) or newer labeled helmets are approved
for use. This is a minimum standards for use in RallyCross, other
approved helmets are:
1. British Standards: BS 6658"85 type A/FR, including all amendments.
2. SFI Foundation, Inc; SFI Spec 31.1

A quick question...
I know some SCCA events have been changed to allow a 15 year old with a permit to drive. Did that extend to RallyX too or is it still 16 year old minimum? I have a friend in Manchester whose son is 15 and wanted to know.
