Rear Tire Opinion

I plan on putting a bigger rear tire on the Harley-Davidson Nightrod Special...but I need some advice. The stock rear tire is already a beefy 240mm dunlop I can go to a 260mm Metzler for about 240 bucks installed or I can really go big like a 300mm or 330 but that would cost about 5k because the sprocket, belt, swingarm, fender and so forth would have to be changed out.

Just from what I have heard metzlers are shit tires. But iv never ridden opn them so I don't know but I would talk to the guys down at harley and see what they say ?

A lot of people on the Vrod forums and big metric cruisers go with either the 250mm avon cobras or the Metzler 260mm I haven't heard anything bad about them in that size. I don't think Harley can tell me much about that tire BC Its not a common size found on an average cruiser. But IDK....all tires have to meet a standard.

I decided to go with the 260mm Metzler...I just dont see me dropping 5k on a 300mm setup when I have other projects in and around the garage. Thanks to the only 2 people that commented.

Use the 5k and finish the FC.....so it will break again and you can fix it again and again.

260 is a good choice for that bike vinnie. 300 or bigger will change the handleing characteristics. Oh and finish that damn rx7..... ;)
