I'm looking for a motor, Hayabusa or something that has about the same power output. Where should I look? I really don't trust ebay...

Is there a bike junkyard or something around TN?

d16z6's have about the same output ;)

just a shot in the wall i know the old suzuki GS1100 have a desent backing for performanc (motors have been used a lot in drag race bikes) also u have rotarys and i herd tell the 1uzfe from the ls400/sc400 lexus's arnt extremly heavy but i garenty there heavyer than a busa 1300 lol but as for bike motors i cant thank of much that would stand near the busa 1300 exspecly boosted

Greens in Kentucky is a motorcycle junkyard.
Also I believe my friend has a 1000RR motor from a 06' CBR, that has very low miles on it. But I believe he wants it worth for it.

I was thinking about putting a Busa motor in my MG. What are you using yours for?
Oh, in shopping around the 4age, and Honda S2k motor all seem to be *about* the same size. Obviously a 4age is going to be cheaper than an s2k motor. The Busa seems to be the best. I think they race them in 1/4 midget cars and there is tons of aftermarket following.

FYI a 4age is only 1.6 liters and has a 5 speed gearbox. The s2k f-series comes in 2.0 and 2.2 configurations with a 6 speed gearbox. Both are different animals.

Does the MG have a driveshaft of is it chain driven? I know some of the smaller cars from that genre had chain driven rear differentials. It would be cool to see a busa motor in an MG.

GoFastGirl
06-29-2010, 07:59 AM
Driveshaft. I've also seen 12a and 13b motors in them. I have a turbo laying around that I could boost the original motor with. Not sure what I want to do.

Same size as in physically the same size that will fit in my motor bay, not displacement wise.

Could you get me a rough price on it?

1978 Corolla DX, weighs right now about 2k lbs.
Well at this point I'm thinking this isn't going to happen, reason being as the transmission on the busa motor wouldn't hold up to the weight it needs to pull around. It also doesn't help that the trans is attached to the motor so I can't exactly use a different transmission. My goal was looking at a motor that would rev to 10-11k RPMs and be quick. At this point I'm all over the board with this build. I've considered at this point now, s2k motor, 4age-T motor, 2jzge (which I already have), a 1300cc bike motor, sr20...the list goes on. My main reason for running away from the 2jzge is the weight, this car would cry with that much weight up front and would prolly handle like poop too.

So yea... Brain storming.

A bike motor would sound nasty in this thing though.

I was wondering the same thing about the Busa transmission holding up in the MG. From what I understand, it will. There are also built versions of the tranny you can buy.

This is what makes me think it would hold up.

Another issue I've got, Steering column, that car is RHD, this would be going into a LHD, the way the busa motor has it's tranny off to the right of the motor means I've gotta put the motor right at the steering column somehow or put the motor up high enough to miss the thing. Then it would be poking out of the hood.

I understand rotary enough to know I don't want to fuck with one. Not saying it is a bad motor, just seems like a bad idea to start messing with one.

This would be me...Its not that I don't like the motors I think they are a pure engineering feat, but I just don't feel like it would be a good motor for me.

LOL, My Rolla is in rough shape, It is undergoing a body work out right now. It has a bit of rust around it. So welding is in order. My biggest concern about all this would be getting this motor and then the trans not holding up to it at all. That would kill me. Another thing is I'm trying to get ahold of some IS300 interior...yes I want this car to be luxury based and a good DD on top of it. I wander what the MPG would be?....get like 40-50 MPG would be awesome (no lead foot of course).

Yeah...IDK about trying to daily drive this thing seeing as the Busa engine makes like 100 ftlbs of torque at 7000rpm. While that should move a 2000lb car alright trying to daily that seems like a PITA. Would be better off going with a F20/22C IMO.

I wonder if you could put a Goldwing or Victory Vision transmission on it. I think they have reverse and they are freakin BEASTS.

GoFastGirl

Also, Because you ahve to rev the piss out of the engine to make it go anywhere, I doubt you'd get 40-50 mpg. I could be wrong though.

Yep this is another thing I'm worried about, trying to move at 4k RPM just to get going would be crazy, constantly reving out the roof.

S2k Motor is still a bit pricey for this swap. I've found a few 4age's on http://pandagarage.com/products/engines.html
$1250 for a Silver top...Would be nice to find one at pullapart. That or an SR20.

What about a KA24? Gonna be honest though, 4age would be the easiest I imagine. Plus they are pretty buildable. I'm sure there are a few in the PAP's around town. Also, someone on Craigslist may have a car for sale and not know what is in it. You might get lucky and pick up the whole rig for $500 or so.

I've been watching Pullapart like a hawk. CL is not an option because every drifter fanboi is looking for a AE86. So trying to find a 4age is a bit on the rare side.

Anything that goes into this thing will be classified as "annoying"
1jzgte or 2jzge or anything with 6 cylinders = way to heavy for the car and will make it a pain in the ass to drive.
4age = slow unless I turbo it, and in that case I would, but delima comes in finding one ><
busa motor = 11k RPM and means I would have to drive around at like 5K RPM to move the car anywhere LOL

It's a project that will end up being a DD, so as all projects go, there really is no time limit cash limit or set plan. Everything Always changes.
