My Volk TE-37 rebuild thread

Alright guys so i know everyone on here has always talked crap about my Volks being abused or garbage. Well first off i would just like to say to those people, go buy more rotas and STFU. Now on to better things...

So i have been dealing with the contractor's insurance company in order to replace my bent TE and things haven't been going well. They will NOT budge with offering me 50% of the cost to replace the wheel. They keep arguing that they dont have proof it happened on their job site. SO... i decided to look around to see about getting the bend fixed and stumbled upon a new wheel retailer here in Murfreesboro called, WHEEL WORKZ. I spoke with the guys up there and figured out that they can fix the bend, but cant guarentee the paint to match. I also stopped by PowderPro and spoke with them about having the wheels powdercoated. Some of you may know Zong had his blue Enkei's done there at PowderPro so you know they do a pretty damn good job.

This is where i am stuck. I cant decide what i want to do with the wheels. I have many options as far as paint, powdercoating, and refinishing. I'm sure most of you know what the wheels look like as they are, but here a pic of them on the car to help out with the opinions and some pics of the colors too.

i think the lip should be polished ... as far as the centers, dont go with a harsh color like blue or teal or anything - i would re do them white/black/gold - so i voted other

Alright guys well i think it has come down to polished/chrome and the candy teal for me. I've seen too many takata green wheels and i'm not too fond on them. I like the teal cause you dont see it often at all and looks pretty badass! And the polished/chrome cause......

Thanks Vent. But if i do go with the polished/chrome look, i will have it powdercoated instead cause i dont want the hastle of polishing them every month and if something happens to them, they may chip instead of nicking away from the wheel itself. PowderPro supposedly has a 2 step finish that mimics chrome very well with the copper/nickel plating sorta thing. But i think i wanna go more towards the finish that 350Z has with a more black/gunmetal chrome finish.

Oh and just so the douchebags know, the car will hopefully be getting painted before winter!!! So eat shit FagoDan.

id get them powdercoated "chrome" before id polish them. when i had my si's, theyd look baller as hell when i cleaned them, but a day later they were dirty and looked worse than splatter painted hubcaps. matter of fact, get the whole car powdercoated chrome!

Well thanks for all of the ideas and votes guys. I'm actually speaking with a new insurance guy cause they switched people on me. So i'm actually in the process of convincing him to give me the full price for the replacement wheel $700! But it's looking like i'm most likely going with the teal or the black chrome sorta color. I've just gotta work out something with PowderPro and Wheel Workz to finalize everything. But just so everyone knows, i'll most likely be having all of this done for half the price of a new replacement Volk, so it's all good and dandy!

Well i'm really planning on doing the chrome/polished now since i'm extremely broke and want to have them done by next weekend! But i'm not sure if i can make it or not. But i know of a place that makes replacement Volk stickers for the spokes, but i'm hoping to be able to stick the inner barrel stickers back on and have them cleared back over.

Well guys i guess its about time to post up an update for the thread. I've been dealing with some crazy shit lately with trying to have the bent wheel repaired. After all is said and done, i finally got the wheel back, didnt pay a cent, and have now dropped the wheels off to PowderPro. Richard ordered the powder yesterday, and i'm looking to have them done by next week. Just for a little teaser, here's a pic of some TE's that are close to what mine will look like.

Long story short, my wheels are 150% real! I have all of the inner wheel stickers with the ID#'s as well as the stickers showing the date which the wheel was shipped over to the US from Japan AND the inner hub of the wheel is stamped RAYS ENG. Everyone else knows what they are for sure. I DO NOT buy fake wheels. In fact i have NEVER owned a set of Rotas in my life. I just really dont want to pay $200 for a set of 8 fuckin decals!!! Who the hell would??? Especially after all the money i've already dumped into having these wheels refinished. I could've bought like 3 sets of knockoff TE's by now!

On a side note, the wheels and lugnuts will probably be finished by tomorrow or so. I will be sure to post some pics of the wheels when i see them. Thanks guys

The decals are the Time Attack models. They are black and red. And i think they will look pretty good on there too. Oh and i put on my Rays valve stems and dice caps last night. They really turned out pretty cool.

white stickers look good on there but isnt that your door panel cloth in between the wheels ? you have a nice little combo going with the black and white cow thing .... love to see it all together !

See the problem with that guys is that i already bought the Time Attack decals and they're on there way. I totally forgot i had these couple white ones til i pulled out the inner barrel stickers out to put them on. I'm not sure if i like the black and white just yet. I'm gonna look at the TA ones when i get them and see how they look. If i like the black/white, then i'll just have to order those and sell the TA's. But i'm putting all of the inner wheel stickers on today and making sure all the valve stems are tight and ready for mounting tomorrow. I'm also gonna tape up my lug key so i dont crack or scratch the lugnuts when mounting as well. So be ready to see pics with the tires mounted tomorrow.

And yes that is the rest of my door panel material. I've been saving it to attempt the headliner, but i havent had the balls to take it apart yet. Now if Josh(civiclydumped) would let me know when he is planning on doing his, we could do it together!!!

Haha why not??? Its not that hard to mount them as long as you have a decent tire machine to go with it. Our machine at work just cant handle mounting lower profile tires. You really have to stretch the shit out of them!
