View Full Version : Street Elite S14 at Beech Bend testing new suspension.
Borrowed a buddy's custom QA1 setup for the rear of an S14 and went to Beech Bend to check it out. Felt way better than the stockers (or the Megans I'm usually on) ever dreamed of, but there's so much adjustment that I haven't even begun to see what they're capable of. Nothing impressive this time (1.89), mostly due to me getting there late and not having time to make any real adjustments and not getting the tire pressure low enough or enough heat in them. Be back soon to see if I can't improve.

1) get some movement out of the front of the car. You are getting ZERO weight transfer. Unhook the front sway bar, loosen front shocks...something
2) Shift Faster
3) Leave at more rpm and rather than dump clutch, slip it.

it appears that he didn't really have any time or any extra passes during which he could make an adjustments or try any different techniques, tim.

Jacob,
Thanks for the insight. I, too, read his post. Was just trying to offer some constructive criticism if he ever finds himself back in the same situation.
Mainly, rear shocks aren't his primary problem and he's chasing the wrong bird if they are his 1st concern. There's more important places to focus.
Regardless, good to see another ls swapped car putting down some good mph!

I agree with #1, but there's really no option other than unhooking the sway bar (which I have already been talking about for next time).
As far as #2, it's the first time I've been out to the track in over a year and due to the fact that I couldn't rev past 6250, I knew I wasn't going to be hitting any personal bests so no point in beating up on the tranny/clutch.
#3...very true...need to leave at a higher rpm and I didn't dump the clutch, the tires were just not where they needed to be.
But, I think there is still some tuning to be done on the rear shocks as well...once these things are addressed as well. Just going to take some practice.
