Relative to AutoX... significantly more. Street tires and your normal brake pads that you use for AutoX should be fine. I believe 5mm is the limit for your brake pads, just make sure you have plenty of pad. All my RX-8 buddies normally get several events out of brake pads running R Compound tires. The concrete on the oval is very abrasive and wears tires(you aren't going to wear out your tires by any means in a weekend). On the flip side, it grips well.
NSS is more like doing 3/4 oval, and a larger AutoX(infield road course) so it shouldn't be anything to hard to pick up on.

ffffffffffffuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu i need to get my car ready for this
also, whoever is worried about tire/brake wear on an HPDE day at NSS shouldnt be ... i ran it with my junk pads and all-seasons and couldnt tell a difference when the day was over. if you're running something with like 40 treadwear however, then there might be an issue - but anything reasonable will be fine.

yea i ran here in my wrx wagon during the import alliance event. HP+ pads and dunlop star specs, on stock suspension the tire wear sucked.... mainly cause id just flick it into turn 1 doing 90! lol was fun tho
depending on how cold it is id like to bring out the locost

I ran my Audi here last year... Got in 48 laps through out the day.
Must have Street/track pads over stock pads imho...
I mean sure I can run again, but that was my biggest hold back the entire day...
Coming into turn 1 at 118mph, Not braking until after the transition put my factory pads to the test...
Also, I was running new Michelin Pilot Sport Plus Tires.... It tore em up pretty bad... 245/40/18
(Still running them a year later)
Best time was 1:23
Edit: Wow, 2 days... Twice the track time.... For $200? Lol I think we spent $200 for one day.....
It's def a good deal. I know all together I spent $400 that day including Gas, Oil change/maintenance etc....

There is nothing to be worried about, when it comes to NSS. It's an easy track, and forgiving. That's not to be said about the surface, though, as I managed to run through some runoff Hoosiers pretty quickly over a weekend, but they were used, and they weren't broken in at all, prior to me getting ahold of them.
NSS is a fun track - go out and have a blast, as it won't wear you out, or your car.

NSS is a good track for newbs. The two places where you are going the fastest, both have great run-off (just blow through the cones and around the high bank). It's not real hard on brakes, but high HP cars can test brake pads pretty well.
As far as tires, it can be a mean SOB. But once again that is related to HP and the type of tire. Lower hp and higher treadwear tires should not wear too badly.
I'm probably on Hiatus till March or so. Need front rotors, fresh front pads and got some other stuff I want to address on the car before another summer of HPDE madness.

Eunos735
12-12-2010, 12:57 PM
OK. I just got the 225 Hoosier R6's on the way. I was wanting to flip the 275 A6's on the rims to try and get a another couple events out of them. So I think I'll just throw the 225 R6's on the 15x9's for this event. See you all there.

That would be a good starter helmet. You can't really get a SA helmet for cheaper than that. I believe the SA rating deals with additional testing for fireproofing and multiple impacts.

i've photographed cars running at NSS during events during the summer, and have only gone around the track a few times myself...i think i'll have to test out my GT on there...good thing im ordering a carp load of suspension upgrades because all i have now is a stupid strut tower brace, and a lowered car...waiting now on some subframe connectors :loco:
at least ill have an excuse to throw my nitto 555's back on my spare wheels to wear them out finally

As mentioned, not a bad starter helmet. I personally would not get on track with an open face helmet... I'm more fond of my face. I'm still guilty of keeping my visor up from time to time, and I have taken debris in the face(once a direct shot in the eye, very lucky there was no permanent damage) as a consequence. As much as we spend in modifications on our cars, our life is still worth more(most of us anyways :D). However, the first place we decide to skimp is safety equipment for most of us. The most important and core safety mod IMO is the helmet. I would get the best bang for the buck helmet you can afford if this is something you are going to do on a regular basis. Even with the proper safety equipment, shit can still happen, but you greatly reduce your risk by having it. The SA2010 helmets are just now coming out. That means a couple of things:
1. You can get a SA2010 helmet that will last you many many years.
2. You can buy a SA2005 helmet at a highly discounted rate that will last you 5 years, at which point it's prob. time for a new helmet anyways due to standard wear and tear from general use.
just signed up today...see yall there

damn Eli, this should be a fun even if everyone shows up and we get some nice weather.
One tip of advice for everyone talking about ordering parts for their car: Don't bother. Seat time, seat time, seat time! Very important. All those mods you do are not going to help you if you don't know how to drive your car or know what it is capable of.
Spend the money on a helmet and track time. You'll be much happier.
I'll see everyone out there.
Cant wait....I printed off the tech sheet so I can be prepared.

Once again Nashville was hit with another ice and snow storm today, leaving Nashville Superspeedway coated with a sheet of ice and covered with snow. Given the fact that temperatures will remain below freezing all day today and will just barely rise above freezing later in the day on Saturday, management at Nashville Superspeedway required that we cancel the event scheduled for tomorrow, Saturday 22.
The good news is that we have rescheduled the event for just two weeks later, Saturday, February 5th. If you were already registered for the January 22nd event then you will be automatically registered for the February 5th event. In the event that you have a scheduling conflict with Feb 5th, please contact us prior to Feb 5th and we will provide a $199 credit that can be used at our next event at the new Atlanta Motorsports Park on the weekend of May 21-22.
If you had wanted to attend the event at Nashville Superspeedway on Jan 22 but were unable to, the ice and snow storm could be a real blessing in disguise for you. While we have a good number registered for Nashville that will be transferred to the new Feb 5th date, we can still accommodate a few more drivers. Go here to join us for an exciting, speed filled day at the track on Feb 5th: http://tracksunlimited.net/
