With the yearly membership the weekly events cost $25 + you get the magazine subscriptions and such. The yearly membership runs about $70
Without yearly membership its $35 for each event.

Each weekend membership you get takes $15 off the yearly membership, and I think you can get another $10-$15 off through a referral. So you can get a yearly membership for the same price as a normal event after 2-3 $35 ones.

You guys will think it's a joke, but oh well lol.
93 Saturn coupe
about 2300lbs, less if I pull rear interior.
Twin Cam swap - 124 hp engine
Warm air intake
91-92 header and downtube
Front and rear sway bars from a stock Sx-2 - Slightly stiffer
Sprint 2.5 drop springs - Improved spring rate, cant remember exact figures
KYB struts - 20 percent stiffer in front, stock in rear
urethane filled Engine/trans mounts
17x7.5 wheels with a semi-performance street tire
steel braided brake lines
Hawk HPS pads with stock rotors
Some of this stuff isn't on there yet, but is inexpensive, so would be before I signed up.

Looks like it falls in FSP. 91-96 Saturn SC is on the same line, which means you can swap the engine from any 91-96 SC and not get reclassed. Engine has to be stock internally, you're allowed a slight overbore / mill for rebuilding. No headwork except port matching.
Exhaust, intake manifold, exhaust manifold is free, except you have to have a cat. There are quite a few other rules, but unless you have a stripped interior or no heater, I think this is where you belong.

Yeah I want to stay as low as possible to be honest. The engine came from another 93 and is stock internally so its good. Cat is still there. Exhaust is mostly stock, except for that header, which is technically stock as well, only not from that year.

I was having trouble getting and keeping traction accelerating out of just about every turn, but being my first time out I can't really say how much was the tires and how much was my lack of experience & an open diff. I was working the course during your run and you looked like you were on ice the first couple runs coming through that back sweeper. Everything I've read about the Kumhos says they're great when it's hot & dry, but terrible in the cold & wet like today. Hopefully better days are ahead for us.

The running 20psi boost on my 2.5l hybrid wrx pretty much screws me on the class I am in anyway so I figure what can the springs hurt besides draggin my mudflap on the pavement haha. He is on Tein SS coilovers, TRD swaybar and ES Motor Mounts. He already has what you suggested. Only thing left to put on it in the bushing department is ES Main bushing set and some downforce. It's ass happy because there is no Rear downforce on his tC like there is mine. Aside from that, it was 30 degrees outside last weekend, summer tires like his Kuhmo XS tires are not going to heat up enough in that weather (car dependent I would imagine).
I know much about his setup because it's nearly identical to mine...plus I helped him install his shit...lol.
Nothing short of 255 wide or more tires + alignment dialed in + downforce is going to keep the tC planted. I'm running in addition to what he has, an APR Splitter and GT200 wing with a -1.8 f and -0.5 r alignment.
I've been boosted on the tC, now I'm going back to boost as well. I miss my turbo so much. I personally favor the full road course but still run the AutoX from time to time.

I can't remember exactly now....Slikk you running rear and front?
If you want the tC to turn in more, then you don't run a front sway bar at all. I'm running stock front sway and Progress Rear set to the max setting. TRD sway bar is non-adjustable and a lot softer than the Progress bars setup. I'm going to do some testing disconnecting the endlink on the front sway bar to see how I like it. The PTuning tC as well as Rado's tC ran without sway bars on the front to help weed out the understeer. But this again is for Track rather than the tightness of AutoX.

Don't know to much about that. Had to be a reason why he kept winning his class in the Novice group that they bumped him out of it per the rules. Think it was just an off day for him coupled with the cold weather and summer tires.
Either way though, AutoX isn't the sole purpose he was going boost. He has to keep up with the rest of us in the club... :). And all of the front guys are going on or going back on boost.

I can't complain in the least bit about mine. It has served me well. The fastest FWD car in the states holding the track record at like 10 tracks is a Scion. Like a Super Scion...lol. It has many accolades already stacked up in the competition world for being out for such a short time. When I'm on the track though with mine, at Nashville Super Speedway I'm running 1:14sec under stock hp (150whp at max). I'm always searching for different drivers videos to compare lap times to mine. Under boost, I expect to run around the 1:10-1:11 mark. Not sure if you know how fast that is around the NSS. It's like stock R35 territory. The stock motor will handle 350-400whp before internals are needed. Depending on turbo 350whp is achievable around 11-12lbs of boost.
PTuning is working on a dog box transmission as the tC's transmission will have a 4th gear synchro problem around the 450+whp mark under racing conditions. That's the only transmission related issue it suffers. That's constant abuse on the track though. I've seen 700+whp tC's on a stock trans (well since they have no upgrades for our trans yet so...).

That seems like barely any camber at all for a race setup. Does your suspension geometry allow a lot of camber gain under compression? Otherwise, I'd think you are sacrificing a lot.

That's what I spec'ed mine out to. I don't need a lot of camber currently, but more can be had with some camber plates and rear camber arms. I still drive this car on the streets, so more camber will wear out the tires faster. I'm running standard Tein SS coilovers without camber plates. I'm happy with my turn in right now, but I'm going to get it corner balanced to see what improvements can be made, but not until I finish the turbo setup.

I am running the TRD rear sway bar and full race setting. The front sway bar is stock. I installed it mainly to get rid of the ungodly amount of body roll that the stock tC has. on stock suspension it feels like you are racing a Buick Roadmaster.
I agree i need to spend more time on dialing the suspension, but my Epic fail last Sunday was due mostly to cold ass tires.

The new Supercharger is still at The High Speed Lab getting massaged. And 949 is still holding my new shocks hostage. I am DIEING for some seat time but it's not looking like it is in the cards for me right now.

Looks like there are about 4 events this year that coincide with my weekends off from work, I'm going to try to make it to at least a couple of those.

I literally had no idea about the PAX scoring, looked it up and I know what it is now. Also learned just because you have the fastest novice time doesn't mean you win novice haha. I had a pretty good time all and all!

Why don't you run in the tire class? You may not trophy very often, but at least there's some real competition.

Yeah man, our SP PAX killed us. We would have been 1st & 3rd based on raw times, but I finished 0.2s out of the trophies after the PAX. I wish we could have gotten a couple more runs in. I found almost a full second on my last run. I also didn't hit a cone all day, so I probably could have been a little more aggressive. Looking forward to the next event at a new location.

what classifies for tire class?
jix13
04-08-2011, 12:37 AM
Anything over 140 treadwear. I don't remember what tires you're running, but I know they're not R-comps. It's a PAX class like novice. The BSP PAX definitely won't do you any favors, but I'd think the better competition would be more fun and more motivation to get better.

I might try to bring the 97 out for the event on the 8th and let Eric drive with me in TCSP.
He is suppose to design the course and all lol. And AST is holding the shocks for ransom apprantly :(
Greenville,SC to Nashville is a long haul, especially in that car lol.

when do we figure out which events are on the road course?
and why did the first post say there may only be one?
last year there were like 4......

Each event costs money, I think the track costs even more. It's a lot more work to set up, people get fewer runs, etc. The turnout is usually pretty good.
I know they dramatically reduced the overall number of events this year to try to boost turnout and each event.

Twin Fountains is between Murfreesboro & Shelbyville off of 231, but the event is no longer being held there. This weekend it will be at Music City Raceway which is north of Nashville. The updated schedule is here: http://www.trscca.org/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1363

I'm the one doing the course. I hope the asphalt is in good shape, it hase been several years since I've been up there and the last time we autocrossed ther was in 2002. It has some elevation changes that make it super fun. I pretty stoked about running there again.

Yeah, part of the SCCA's contract is that we'd clean up the lot.
I haven't touched the miata since breaking the rear end last event so no autocross for me this time.

Somehow I manged to drive it home. It was not making happy noises, sounded like someone was whacking the driveline with a sledgehammer.

Oh no! How'd that happen?!
I can't wait to get this new thing out there, but it sometimes starts overheating when sitting at idle, and I'm just about positive it would do it in grid. I'd bring it out anyway once i replace a few suspension goodies but I don't want to be a nuisance to everyone else! :ohnoes: It's an air flow problem i guess, I dont know what to do about it! I'm so excited to feel the 4 wheel steering through those slaloms though!

Does anybody know or have an email address for the guys that were at the 4/17 event putting their camera on different people's cars in grid? They were gone by the time the last run group finished, so I didn't get a chance to give them my email to send the video.

The June 26th autocross is going to be run National Tour style with 3 runs each on 2 different courses. Should be a fun one. Quote from TRSCCA forums:
Okay. A couple of people have asked for this and honestly I've been wanting to do it for a while too. The format for the June 26 event will be similar to a National Tour event. I have designed a course that can ve run either direction with a few tweaks in a couple of places, so half-way through the event we'll take a break and switch Start and Finish. Here's how it will go down (hopefully):
Saturday, we'll start set-up at 4:00. We'll put out all cones for the 1st half and study the changes needed for the afternoon. If possible, maybe we can get a safety buy-off that evening.
Sunday, with club's approval, we'll move the schedule up 30 minutes. Mike, Nick and or Arnold, can you guys get to the event by 8:00 ish to open registration?
Novice walk through around 9:15 and Driver's meeting as close to 9:30 as possible.
1st car off by 10:30 at the latest, preferably by 10:00. 3 runs each run group.
After the 2nd run group a few of us will go out and adjust start and finish and any cones in course that need it. Plan for 30 minutes or less. This would be a great time to eat.
As soon as the course is done and approved by Safety, it will be open for walking. Plan for no more than 30 - 45 minutes just to get the day going again. Once walking is closed, we'll resume the event, with start at the other end.
We'll have 3 more runs in the afternoon and your time will be your combined best morning and afternoon runs.
We will grid along the Left side of the center grassy area as you face the track, as if we were starting in the lot. I think to make things easy we'll start down there anyway, and switch to starting on the access road in the afternoon. We may switch grid for the afternoon, but maybe not. We'll figure that out on the go.
Please be patient as we work through the kinks and I hope everyone enjoys this type of format. Please offer any thoughts, percieved problems and / or improvement ideas so they can be discussed and reviewed before the event. I've tried to think of everything but I know other things will come up along the way.
