ok.. don't buy this, reasons why-
1: horrible car physics, steering way too sensitive, no burnouts, no stupid off-roading. all cars make the same sounds. 90% of the fun of all the gta games is driving around like a lunatic, in this game, you can't!.. simply put, no fun
2: no free-roam, your missions or "cases" are assigned one after the other, list style
3: irritating missions, you drive
from place to place, chasing "leads" where you must decide if your suspect is lying, telling the truth etc. and in the event that you screw up, you have to go do more mind numbing crap!
I've played this game for about 2 hours and I'm EXTREMELY disappointed. compared to rockstar's past games, this is horrible. has anyone else bought it? I'd like to hear some different opinions

I played it for about an hour myself.
I'm kinda neutral about it, I hate the fact it's not set up like GTA where you do the missions when you want to...
but I love the old school feel of it, and how they made it seem like you're actually playing in the '40s. the music, the WWII propaganda, the cars, etc...
I'm hoping that once you're all done the missions you can free-roam (though I doubt it).
at this moment, I prefer GTA/RDR over this, but like I said, I've only played an hour's worth.

1.Best part is this isn't technically a GTA game, hence why your not in that role. Hence the name being L.A. Noire, not GTA: LA Noire, which would be silly sounding.
2. Rockstar games tend to change their formula, can't make the same ole shit forever, good or bad, progress comes in physical change and new product lines. Just because it was made by rockstar doesn't mean emulation of GTA.
3. Car physics are ALWAYS bad in GTA, period.
4. None of Rockstars GTA/3rd Person based games have been particularly brilliant, they feed off a simple formula, violence. Once that element takes backseat to a separate element, say, psychological puzzles, everyone trips.
Done.

I haven't played it from what I have read in the first two posts, Rajin really sums it up for you. Couldn't have said it better my self.

thing is though, if they're going to create a whole city, have the same gameplay as GTA/RDR, at least have the OPTION to run around and explore.
I've played damn near every game Rockstar ever made, Max Payne series, RDR series, GTA, Bully, Manhunt etc...and this is by far in a way the least impressive. okay, maybe more impressive than Midnight Club.
agree with it or not, it's my opinion.

agreed, i forgot to mention the good parts, as someone said, the setting is really cool, the feel of the 40's is just about right, seems like a cool storyline.
but the fact is, its lame, when i got gta4, i played it until i couldnt keep my eyes open. I was bored with this in an hour. I like to do a couple missions, save my game, and go screw around, run over stuff, jump my car etc, piss off the cops. while it is a police themed game, id still like to go play, its far to serious to be a video game
That said, and as soon as i figure out how to do it, i plan on contacting rockstar and saying WTF?? and i think ill take la noire back to the store, and start a new game on gta4

I love all the previous rockstar games listed in which the key element was like previously stated. Violence, aside from the racing based games.
Each Rockstar studio is different, the ones everyone loves comes from the same studio though.
Sorry if you don't like it, the gameplay is going to be similar because it's easy. The entirety of these games are easy.
Rockstar threw a knuckleball and everyone that's not able to sit thru the faults will never see anything more than a fault.
Oh and that's my opinion.
(Actually it's just what I construed from everyone making a complaint because they can't make the little coppy drive around like a ignorant prick because their mind isn't able to wrap around logical concepts).
Play Heavy Rain, then complain more. That game you'd not last 2 minutes in if having to make logical choices bothers you.

I make logical choices at work, I do stupid fun stuff on stupid video games at home.. If I wanted to be logical and use my brain all the time I'd stay at work. games are supposed to be mindless and crazy

Not all of them. Mindless, no. Crazy, depending on game. Yet, I don't see games coming out recently too be too mindless.

I'll buy someone's copy if they don't want it. I was going to buy this for my wife this week. As already mentioned above, this is nothing like GTA or Red Dead.

Just the curve of the business, I used to test/story board contribute, I know how the systems work around games.

Must not be THAT bad of a game, as nobody has taken me up on my offer. I'll just get it from Wally World and take the $20 gift card.
