Hellaflush is stupid. I can't wait till the kids move onto the next fad. First it was parkbench wings, then unpainted body kits, tinted windows and windshields, subs and loud ass systems, jdm tow hook fad, carbon fiber hoods, flat black paint jobs, fake rusted hoods, neon lights, chrome wheels, euro tail lights, supra tail lights, supra wings, and now we are in the cheap ass jdm slammed coilover and hellaflush faze with stretched tires.

and that's why there are so many cookie cutter cars out there like this in todays world. people try to follow trends too much, but for a true enthusiast, he/she will continue to do what they want to whether its big wheels, altezzas, stretched tires, etc. Because as much as people want to bash on the new trend of stretched tires on wide rims, it's been around for much longer than alot of people think. No bias here either, as I don't care for it either, just stating facts.

Sounds like you're Mad...I understand you want these "kids" to move on but how does it impact you if they move on or not? It's their car, that they drive...

And honestly i really dont see that many cars around the Davidson County area that are "hellaflush"... I've been to meets in North Nashville, Cool Springs, Murfreesboro, etc.... and never see "kids" with their "hellaflush" cars..

venom_5
06-17-2011, 08:11 AM
thats because most kids dont make enough money to buy real wheels with decent offset, nor can they afford supplying tires for that kind of stance

there are only a handful of people/cars in Greater Nashville that can pull that off, and some of them have been posted in this thread

Johnny_K
06-17-2011, 08:15 AM
^ hence why they have cheap ebay coilovers and unpainted body kits but i could care less cause it's their car.. If it's all they can afford and they like it, more power to them.

I agree with alot of the input/opinion in this thread about *scene* kids/cars, but at the same time, I view it simply as this:

I'll still be out, driving my car, with the older modifications that it has, without a nod to a *scene* or specific type of vehicle owner, long after the fad has died and the kids have moved on...

Really just depends on what tires you have i ran horrible camber on my 240 and those tires were used when i put them on an i still got a year out of them atleast and i was driving every day.

I get that its a whole fad thing but some cars do look good setup like that.

FYI unless your running 4-5* of negative camber it isn't causing tire wear issues unless your pushing the corners hard a track and building up alot of heat or doing top speed runs. Toe causes tire wear problems, camber causes you to ride on less of the tire when the suspension isn't transitioning. That is a common misnomer that drives me crazy. Typically up to -3* of camber will allow a tire to go 12-18k miles on a average tire before they are flipped and then it will last another 12-18k. Where the hellaflush movement is stupid is the tire is stretched and barely sealed. With alot of negative camber you are putting all the heat, stress, load on a small section of the tire which usually is edge of the tire/sidewall. With that it can cause a tire to let go and damage a rim if your lucky or cause loss o the vehicle if your not.

Which under normal driving conditions means absolutely nothing. I could understand if someone was trying to track with a setup like that but nobody is its just a look. Not really unless you are running major camber. Yes it will take away at the life of the tires but not like toe does, look at a comparison of toe wear and camber wear.

To me it's +15 to start. I wouldn't consider a +25 as being LOW.

Well it really depends on the width of the wheel. A 16x8 +15 isn't really low offset. Now a 9" wheel with +15 more of a low offset.

The start of low offset IMO

8' +-0
9' +12
10' +25
11' +38

boostiswhatsfordinnerNWH
07-29-2011, 12:29 AM

boostiswhatsfordinnerNWH

Say the average wheel is 7 inches wide. A +15 will be somewhat aggressive on most cars, obviously there will be a few like the Starion/Conquest crew that run negative offsets righ off of the line.

Really aggressive in my application (E30) would be something like 16x8 0 front and 16x8 -7. I'm thinking that will fit my wells and it'll be quite flush. I might have to knock it back a bit because I don't care to be Hella flush.

Coming from the guy who has weak offset?? Not saying my wheels are baller, but cant crap on a thread where you're no different :D

Say the average wheel is 7 inches wide. A +15 will be somewhat aggressive on most cars, obviously there will be a few like the Starion/Conquest crew that run negative offsets righ off of the line.

My borbet's are 16x7.5 +13 and 16x9 +12/13 (cant really remember lol) But the rears could pushed out a few more MM, plus my fenders arent rolled, so that doest help. But then again I dont feel like doing all of that, I think the borbet's sit nicely on it and I dont need to make them flush.
