A friend of mine has a 96 CBR600 F3 that I was thinking about getting off his hands bike is in near perfect shape with only 10k miles. But last month after a trip back from southern mississippi one of his front wheel bearings started slipping and sliding out. Thinking it was just a bad bearing he went ahead and got it replaced and didn't have any problems until yesterday when the same thing started to happen again so he trailored it to the shop where they went ahead and replaced it again but told him that it was sliding out because the inner casing of his rim is warped on the inside allowing too much space between the bearing and the rim and told him that he would need to replace the whole rim itself.. before one of us puts out the money to get a new/used rim is there any other way to go about repair? i was thinking about getting the inner well etched above where the bearing sits and installing a lock washer to keep it in place but idk... any ideas?

Honing it bigger will probably just make the bearing loose in the housing. With a clip it'll stay in but be scary. Fleabay a new wheel or used. Jerry rigging a car is a bit different then a bike. If something goes wrong and say worse case the wheel falls apart, locks up, locks the bearing, or al hell breaks loose. You're dead. Seriously injured. Or bare minimum you ruin a good set of shorts.
If a zip tie or tape gets ya home safe then cool. All other problems will kill you.

I'm not saying jerry rig it but just another way to go around buying a new rim.. I know most newer bikes and even some older model's use this: http://blowbyu.ca/mediac/400_0/media/retaningclip.jpg to lock the bearing into place so there's no way of it ever falling out of place.. Just wondering if i can get a small space etched into the rim so i can get a retaining clip into place. just enough to ride it across town and back a few times until we can get a new rim.

A new or used rim for an f3 shouldnt cost that much at all.. For the amount of time/money you'd spend into getting the current one temp fixed, you could have already bought one.

GOT IT FIXED!!! Apparently a buddy of mine stopped by this morning while I was out working and spoke with my dad about it while it was sitting in the garage.. His girlfriends uncle happens to have a shop sponsored by honda workin on their dirtbikes.. Anyways..... after taking a look and knowng exactly what the problem is he got ahold of a new collar to fit over the bearing & a new spacer he got for $FREE$... and just showed up here ready to install.. took us 7 min :)
Apparently the spacer gets worn very quickly on these model bikes from sitting so close to the rim.. It had shaven a good .25 in. off the origional spacer and wasnt enough to hold it in properly..

Hell yeah, I'm gonna take it now.. He's givin me a hella good deal on it.. Never been wrecked, laid over, new battery, starter, tinted windscreen, chain & sprockets, intergrated turn signals front & rear, fender delete, some EXTREMELY loud carbon fiber exhaust that he pulled off another 600 f3 he found (offbrand) probally coming off as soon as it gets to NC, free HJC helment, carbs cleaned, new jet kit, & had it painted satin black.. all for $1,500. (& I know I'm forgetting a few things but oh well..)
