Suspension: BC Racing Coilovers - shown in both the blue and yellow GC. I'll be dropped closer to the yellow, not slammed like the blue.

I'm a sucker for split 7-spoke wheels, especially if they are concaved. My vote is for the Vossen's.

Varrstoen, I am tempted to buy them for mine as well.

the VarrsToen Hyperblack won't be available til mid-October with pre-sales in mid-Sept... I actually bought them pre-order for their last shipment and they sold out before I got mine. I had purchased HyperSilver, but think I'll get HyperBlack if I do decide to buy again.
Jules @ Havoc / Tom with G&M gave me the best prices of anyone. Lexus forums were seeing a $400 markup I think. Pricing will vary depending on whether they order an entire skid or not.

Wow, I'd actually rock either one of those man... I'd figure which one is cheaper total with wheels/tires (since 19" tires will bend you over in cost) and then get the cheaper one since they both look good...
Or if Matt gets the Varrstoen's then get the Vossen's so that the cars look a bit different than each other lol...
majik
08-23-2011, 02:38 PM
yeah, the Vossen are more than twice the price of VarrsToen, and I've seen half a dozen VarrsToen in TN but no Vossen.
19s will let me go lower than 20s, but I don't want to be running -4 camber. :-(

I'll sell my varrstoens but they are 18s

Varrstoen. My buddy actually has those for sale in those specs. Think he wants like $900. Pretty much new.
majik
08-23-2011, 03:42 PM
I can grab them new for $950 shipped. If he's including decent tires, I may be interested, but I'm still leaning towards Vossen
Are you talking about the Lexus?

Vossens for sure bro!
majik
08-24-2011, 04:19 PM
Wow, I honestly thought it would go the other way. Vossen are my choice, but if I can get 19s for almost 1/3 of the price, that leaves much more room for more turbo goodies.

I like them both. I've been battling with this decision for the last 2 months. I keep going back and forth so I was asking for the opinions of others, maybe some insight or feedback to sway my opinion. There's more than just wheel design to consider, there's also size - as VarrsToen are only 19" and Vossen are only 20"
I would really be happy with either wheel. Honestly, Vossen are my first choice, but it's hard to pull the trigger at $550/wheel when I can get the VarrsToen for under $1,000 shipped.
The VarrsToen's aren't in stock yet. I already bought them once but they sold out in my size before they even hit the U.S.
also, posting on a couple forums, people actually provided insight. With the VarrsToen, I can go lower and have a more flush stance without camber. With the 20" Vossens, I can't go nearly as low and will need to roll with more camber. The 19s can practically be 0'd out and still sortaflush. BUT... getting the 20s, I can put a CF lip on the front to protect the bumper. Slamming on 19s, I might be too low to have a lip, unless I want to replace it monthly.
These are the kind of thoughts I'm looking for.

i think you will be ok on 19's but tires do cost a lil more for 19's.
As for flush fitment - that's all dependent on width, offset, drop, fender work, camber, etc..
and $550 is expensive for a Vossens, if your gonna spend $2200 i would look into some used Work or Volk or sometime in nature.
Johnny_K
08-26-2011, 10:51 AM
forgot you had the specs on the first page. Varrstoen fronts will be 4mm more aggressive than the vossen but 7 mm less aggressive in the rear.
majik
08-26-2011, 11:00 AM
^ right, and 1" difference in diameter, but I'm also considering the stretch. I don't have intentions on hellaflush, and I don't care to do any fender work in the rear. The Vossens will require more stretch in the rear- 255 on 10.5 Vossen whereas the VarrsToen can get away with 275
I'm open to other wheel choices, but honestly the Volk designs don't do much for me. If anyone wants to throw some VS-XX my way for under $2,500, I'll taken 'em ;)
i've been trolling the 350z/370z forum for the last month hoping to find a nice looking used set in good condition, but no wheels are jumping out to me. It's amazing to me how many people curb those beautiful wheels.
Johnny_K
08-26-2011, 02:17 PM
I believe your fenders are already rolled in the rear so you should be good to go.
Are other genesis guys running 10.5 +22 on a 275?
majik
08-26-2011, 02:34 PM
Yes, the more conservative setups are. Not many, though. I was considering 245 and 275 but not sure if 35 or 40 series.
The blue GC with 20" Vossen had 255/30 and 275/30 and a little rub.
The White GC with 19" VT had 225/40 and 245/40, -2.0 camber all around with a little rubbing.
The black posted below is VT with 245/40 and 235/40. He wants to go lower but he's rubbing front. (he lowered it more after pics)

I'm impressed, you sir have done your homework and i respect that! Personally i think a 275/40 is gonna be a lil meaty. I would do 275/35 if you went with a 275.
Your post are very well structured and easy to read also, so kudos on that.

I bought the VarrsToen but they sold out on pre-ordered. Second time I've paid, second time I didn't get a set.
I couldn't get the Vossen any lower than $1,950, which is more than I'm willing to pay for that wheel. I decided to go with Axis Rev

Did you already get the Axis wheels or still waiting on them?
Would love to see pics of them on your car...

Think ive seen you around murfreesboro, 1st time i was with my buddy in the white S2000 and 350z and we seen you pulling into Dairy Queen and 2nd time i seen you i was beside you at the light on 96 / cason lane.
If that was you, the car is looking good. Good drop and nice fitment. HMU if you want some pics of it.

I definitely need some pictures, within the next week or so. Send me a message of what your rates are and availability (weekdays? weekends?). I tried myself, but getting details on these black rims are nearly impossible - I'm not experienced enough to get the settings right. Over 5GB of photos and these were the only 4 I could come up with.
I never go to Dairy Queen, but the wife was sick and wanted ice cream. I remember seeing the S2000 in the Camino parking lot.

I have a white one as well. I had some Varrstoen 3.3.2's matte black with a thin red pinstripe on the lip in 19x9.5/10.5 +12. Looked sick but too much offset. I will consider getting another set in +22. Really made the brembos pop.

I'm running some eibach sportlines. Would've liked a little lower but I'm happy with them. Ride quality is as good or better than stock r-spec suspension.
I live in the barfield area towards Christiana.

Car looks good man... What's wrong with those pics? They look good to me LOL way better than what I would have done...
majik

They said they loved the pics, but there's "too much scenery" -- I guess my selection for backdrops is too sexy and it's taking attention away from the wheels. The pics really do suck though, for actually showing the detail of the rims. They're almost identical to a few other models (like the Penta) so they want to show the differences between the wheels. Since it's actually going on the Axis Wheels website, I guess the pics should be showing off the wheels more than the car.
I honestly had a hard time getting details of the wheels. Unless I was shooting from 2 feet away, that dark black was impossible to shoot. It either made my car too washed out from overexposure or the wheels were just a black circle.
I'm hoping Johnny can hook me up. I meant to contact him last week but my schedule was too hectic to set something up.
