ive been wanting to make a game station for a while and decided to just buy a new steering wheel instead of used. went with the logitech g27 from b&h photo video for $250. thats the cheapest place i found besides egay and it comes with manfacture warranty plus its a flat $250 (no tax or shipping charges are added). im also a member of gtplanet and have been looking for ideas on what to do for a station thats easily movable and sturdy. came across these plans for a pvc stand, and damn its stout. it can actually be broken down into two pieces with each half weighing in at around 10-12lbs. the original builder used 2" abs plastic, but its more brittle and also double the price ov pvc. i decided to go with 1.5" diameter with a 40 rating. for the frame alone theres around $80 invested but i have a little less as i already had some fittings and around 14' of pvc. if anyone wants a full detail list of whats used and specs on all pieces i can bring up my diagrams that i drew up. for a seat ill be using a spare bucket from a mid 70's camaro i had laying around that i pulled from a restore until i find a good priced racing bucket that doesnt hurt my hip. the only thing i have left to do to my stand is attach my shifter/ebrake bar but ill be doing that once my wheelset comes in so i can wire tuck it to keep everything from getting snagged. still deciding on what color scheme i want to go with so if you guys have any suggestions feel free to drop in. im thinking of doing flat black bars with gloss black, red, or blue fittings. total time on building including going to home depot was around 6.5hrs. hope you guys enjoy my little project....

Only if you hook a TV and the G27 up to it while going downhill. Most epic idea!

^ oh i know.. they have a BOSS setup. but im ballin on a budget since i cant work right now and im not sure how my hip would like a racing bucket (i have a titanium rod from hip to knee). but i will be doing the e-brake, reverse mount, and weighted shifting mods. and i may change wheels out once i start getting some money.

actually found a design flaw when i was deciding on how to do my pedal mount. im gonna have to get two more "tees" and put them at the nose where my 90* fittings are to run another crossbar and then i can run a pice of plywood for a solid pedal mount. also have to get two more "tees" and two 90*s to make my steering wheel mount. while im cutting plywood im going to make a floor patch to have a solid plate seat mount and get that on. paint will come later today.

Looks awesome man. Always wanted to build one but ex and current wife wouldn't let me due to space restrictions.

thats the cool thing about this design though, it can be taken apart and stored in a closet.

and the finished product. i still have to route my wires thru pvc so my dog wont chew them up and paint the dashboard and extra bracing i put in. im pleased with how well everything works and ill start modding it soon once i get use to the wheel.

thanks man. while i have the dashboard out im going to take one of my whole saw bits and cut into it out mount a cheap cup holder in it. the force feedback on the wheel is so strong it vibrates stuff off of it. i love it so far. going to start on reverse mount pedals monday which will make things a little bit more realistic. itll make it a push thru pedal like an actual car instead of a step on pedal. also going to install software some time tomorrow and adjust the settings so that way i have 900* steering instead of 200*. its way too sensitive for drifting right now and itll need all i can get once i get my e-brake mounted.

The reverse mount pedals (I assume you mean where they hang like in a real car) mod is awesome. In for pics when that is finished.

yep. gonna go see if dad still has some scrap plywood to make a front cover so i have a solid mount for my pedal assembly tomorrow. still throwin around the idea of cutting the left side up and adding two "tees" to where it can be switched to rhd but still be capable of lhd for when my dad wants to drive.
