Anybody on here go all that often? I've never been to an NHL game. I'm considering taking the gf for a weekend trip to watch a game and hang out in Nashville sometime in Feb. or Mar. Any advice?
Thanks,

I give <0 fucks about hockey, but I would have to agree that being there and being surrounded in the atmosphere of any live sporting event makes for a good time. As far as I know there aren't really any Preds game secrets, at least not that I have found in the 5-6 games I've been to. Just go, have a beer or two, and enjoy yourselves.

Just went to my first game last week. I don't care much for hockey, but it was AWESOME. I took my 6 year old son and we had an absolute blast. Can't wait to go again.

No real secret, 95% of the fans there don't know how to cheer for a hockey game, so nothing to worry about. I went to watch my home team beat the preds, and the pred fans didn't even make any noise when my team called a time out, which is when they are supposed to make it hard for the opposing team to hear lol

There's lots of rules, just like you wouldn't cheer super loud at a football game if your team is trying to plan their play in a huddle, they need to hear. The point of being loud is to interrupt their snap count, play making, etc.
But yea, there really aren't any rules :P

The fans have gotten a lot more knowledgeable of the game. Either way, they are a lot of fun.

thanks guys. Not sure I want to sit beside "cell block" anythiing, but thanks for the advice nonetheless lol. I'm alive, but work and family have had 110% of my time here lately.
So, where's the best place to sit?

OMG! What idiots! It's fucking ice hockey, the only reason anyone watches it is because they are too dumb to remember all the rules of football.

Preds games are fantastic. Much better than going to a Titan's game. Sit anywhere you can around 107...that's Carrie Underwood's box. She's not always there but when she does, that's where she'll be.

I think for me it's just the pace of the game itself is much more exciting than football. And I'm not saying I don't like football, I do, but it's just so stop and go. I thought Titans games were actually kind of boring to watch in person as opposed to TV. And Preds games are more of the opposite- better in person than on TV.

100% Agreed, the fast action of Hockey makes it very enjoyable to attend games in person. Football is really a TV-made sport, it is designed around stop-go for TV breaks and such.

I say that because I constantly hear women say "Yeah, I like going to predators games because they don't have so many confusing rules!"
I mean, like every girl I know that has ever been to a hockey game.

going to any preds game is awesome. and since this would be your introduction to hockey, definitely look at going to detroit red wings game. but for a good game to goto over the weekend, in Jan goto the flyers game & in Feb goto the sharks game. those would be great Sat nights in either month

I love football, but i would much rather go to a hockey game. Plus the players are a lot more down to earth than any football/basketball/baseball. I get tired of the egos and scandals in the more mainstream sports.
If you can be downtown the morning of the game there are 100 tickets they sell for $10 when they open at 10 am. Thursdays if your in college you can get a lower bowl ticket for $25 and upper bowl for $15

another reason I go to so many games. It's much cheaper, easier, and more convenient than dealing with Titans games. Hard to pass on a $15 night downtown at a pro sporting event.

Bump! Awesome win last night, really hoping Weber isn't suspended for Friday's game for slamming Zetterbergs head into the glass at the end of the game though

Some BS penalties, especially the ones at the end of the game. Preds sure did suck on the powerplay, at least their goalie knows what he's doing and saved the day.

Thought the same thing, for a team that leads the league in fewest penalties (followed by Detroit), I couldn't believe some of the calls last night. Then I read this on ESPN this morning:
"Commissioner Gary Bettman was in attendance, and that might be why officials stayed busy calling plenty of penalties with six in the first period alone and 17 overall for a combined 34 minutes."
Edit: Looks liek Weber is good to go for game 2!
Meanwhile, Predators defenseman Shea Weber was fined $2,500 by the NHL (the maximum amount allowed under the collective bargaining agreement) on Thursday for a hit to the head of Red Wings forward Henrik Zetterberg in Game 1.
"We felt this was a reckless and reactionary play on which Weber threw a glancing punch and then shoved Zetterberg's head into the glass," NHL senior vice president of player safety and hockey operations Brendan Shanahan said in a statement. "We reached out to Detroit following the game and were informed that Zetterberg did not suffer an apparent injury and should be in the lineup for Game 2."

But what a win! Game one is huge mentally. Now we just have to pull it off again tomorrow night.
