Wondering if anyone had any personal bad experiences with a filter.

Maybe this is a better picture then. The first one I posted had a non-fram honda filter in it.

Anyone curious of constructions of different filters check this out.

One of the most major differences in them is the filter media itself. Most are paper, but a select few are synthetic media (mobile 1 and K&N off hand).

I hate to burst everyone's bubble...there is only about 2 filter manufacturing companies in the US. They do have different lines of filters....but they all come out the same plant.

A guy down here had a FRAM shit its filter element through his oiling system a couple of weeks ago. Catastrophic engine failure ensued.
Honda has a vested interest in whether or not your engine lives/ gets good oil flow/ gets good oil filtration. If their oil filters suck, their warranty department see's a direct increase in costs. They had FRAM manufacture their US market filters, but they are hardly the same as the shiest FRAM sells in their own boxes.
As an interesting side note, I've personally seen 3 K&N motorcycle filters explode or spit the o-ring out. Two on KWS Motorsports GSXR1000 Superbikes, and 1 on my own SV1000 street bike. All of them caused instant engine failures, and one of the KWS failures caused a spectacular crash. Oil tends to end up on the back tire when it jumps out of the oil filter. I won't be using any more K&N oil filters, whether they have that convenient nut on the top or not.

There's gotta be at least 4. Fram, Champion, Wix, and Purolator.

Growing up we had a Fram collapse on our farm truck.
I worked at an auto parts place for a few years and saw 2 others do the same.
I do have to admit i love the the grip tape stuff on the end of them though.
Great deal on the PureONE filters btw.
