s14 weird start? & Clutch advice
Ok so about 2 months ago my starter went out, and I replaced it with a duralast starter from autozone, car started fine for quite a while. Around the same time my clutch had been engaging really weird almost every time I took off from 1st, it would feel like a grind and the clutch would pop into the engaging spot, so I bled it, then didn't have that problem for about another month or so, now every once and a while that happens again, but not very often. Now recently, my car is having trouble starting around 80% of the time, at first it only occured when it was very hot outside, now its most of the time. I have to like twitch my key 3 times repeatedly to get it to start, I'm thinking it might be because of the autozone starter. Any ideas?
Now the clutch problem, I have a stage 3 ebay(wanting to purchase a new one very soon but it came with the car), which is why I need advice on a reliable, cheaper clutch with good life. Thinking about a Stage 2 competition clutch for $315 on www.jdmultimate.com, or a exedy oem just for cheap on www.240sxmotoring.com for $151.

my starter does that, i just keep hitting the key and it eventually starts, i have a new one, to lazy to put it on. As far as a clutch, if your engine is stock the replacements from Oreillys worked fine in mine when it was NA, If your need more than that, i suggest a spec.

i had the competition and didnt like it. i went with ACT 6 puck unsprung disc with heavy duty plate...(this was on a stock ka for a while but for drift events).
why dont you get yours build by the nash clutches or whatever its called? they matched my flywheel to the disc and it was awesome. couple my friends ran the clutches too and said they were awesome.

theres always the option to use the "white bunny" clutch set-up. stock pedal feel capable of holding ~500hp.

I am NA, all I have is an intake and full 3" exhaust with no cat. So stock would be fine for a clutch, I'm considering buying the one for $151 on 240sxmotoring, or checking prices for a clutch kit at Stones river nissan... About the starter, I only purchased it about 2 months ago or so, and with that being said I can take it back and get a new one for free, yet I can't install it myself, paid my mechanic to do it last time.. So until I can get some help with that I'll just stick to hitting the key I guess, because aparantly the starter is the problem.
About the nashville clutch place or w/e, I've heard of a place called Tennessee clutch supply and some people say they do good work, some say terrible so I don't know. but thanks anyways.
Aye-bee I would if i didn't buy this one but I don't think I would need it so thanks anyway but no thanks.
laosman what do you mean by "white-bunny setup"?

There is a vendor on another forum selling the Exedy stage 1 Clutch for $259 shipped It holds up good and if you add a little more performance you are still good to go

The "white bunny" setup utilizes a stock nissan D21 pickup flywheel coupled with either a stock D21 clutch or stock or upgraded 280z, 300zx, Rb series clutches. The reason why this stock clutch holds so well is because the D21 flywheel has a 240mm contact patch as opposed to the stock contact patch of 225mm. Any nissan clutch that is 240mm(280z, 300zx, Rbs, etc...) will work with it. Its a great way to keep stock pedal feel and get the clamping force youre looking for. Ill be going with this setup when it comes time to change my clutch.
"I was just the first to have it in my car. I made 55X RWHP and 47X RWTQ and i've had very good luck with the clutch. With that said I hardly launched the car but I did plenty of beating on the car once it was moving. Ask anyone who really knows me... I can't stay out of the throttle. I'm currently rebuilding for more power so I got a chance to pull it apart and it looked pretty good. ..... "-guy off nico forums

I'll check it out but I still might go with oem just because it saves $100, but if I research and it is worth it I might go that route, thanks. The only thing with that, I have test driven a 240 hatch with a exedy stage 1 and when I stalled it the clutch fell in.. So dunno if it's too reliable.

That sounds pretty cool, yet I'm not too mechanically inclined on cars and if it costs a bit to do I will probably avoid that option lol.

It's a 95, just a 97 front end. I will try this and the other thing you said probably by the end of this week or weekend, just haven't had much time to mess with it lately, thanks tho that could be my problem.

"white bunny" setup costs about ~$200 60-70 for flywheel and bout 150 for the stock d21 clutch kit.
