Finally got my wheels on. They're growing on me. I still wish I would of gone wider; but that's the good thing about two piece wheels I can always get bigger barrels. I am annoyed though. The shop scratched the lips. They might be able to be buffed out. Next time I am going to a place with a touchless.

I will try to get better shots this week.

So a lot has happened since the last time I updated this. Sadly nothing has gone on the car.... A month ago we had single digit temps, which pretty much kicked my cars ass. I've had a head gasket leaking for a long time now. I've just been lazy and never done anything about it. I babied the car for the last two years. I guess the single digit temps were the last straw for the heads and they started to smoke, and my tps or maf I assume gave up on me as well.

So for the last month I have been in a rental car. I have ordered the following parts for my spare engine;
cam shafts
timing chains
timing guides
iac
oil pump assembly
mussa gauge pillar
9:1 cp pistons
acl bearings
new valve seals
new cylinder head bolts
cylinder heads cleaned, surfaced, and pressure checked

I am sure there is something else I am missing. My only hold up at the moment is waiting for my pistons. CP Carillo will not return phone calls, and I can never get anyone to answer!!! My other snag is trying to separate the upper oil pan from the block. It's been a pita. I still plan on; having the crank balanced, making sure if the standard bearings I ordered will work or not, having the block cleaned, rods shot peened, and honed. This is the first time I've built an engine and it's been a learning experience to say the least.

Glad to see more people working on stuff. Hope the rebuild goes smooth. Always hate the wondering if everyhing is gonna work right the first time.

I am half way through ordering my engine sensors. I ordered a TPS a couple of days ago. This morning I ordered a knock, and engine temp sensor as well. I need to order a; crank sensor, camshaft sensor, mass air flow sensor, and a intake air temp sensor. After I get all the sensors out of the way I can order a new axle, new water pump assembly, full gasket kit, new spark plug wires, and new spark plugs. I might order a new upper oil pan I stripped a thread on my current one. It happens to be the thread that you use to separate the pans from the block.

I am waiting on some bell housing bolts to arrive so I can mount the block to a stand so I can separate it easier, as well drain the remaining oil in the engine. My priority is to get the car running again so all the supercharger and tuning parts have been put off until I can get the new engine in the car.

I have ordered just about everything I can think of for my new engine with the exception of crank and main bearings;
New oil pump assembly
New timing assembly (including new water pump)
New timing chains
New complete engine gasket/seal kit
New IAC
New MAF
New engine coolant temp sensor
New TPS
New knock sensors
New axles
New pistons (CP Carrillo cr 9:1)
New starter
New 110amp alternator
New crank sensor
New cam sensor
New head bolts

All that is left is balancing the crank, honing the block, shot peening the connecting rods, cleaning the block, assembly, and installing. I am beyond ready to get this engine build done. I sick of being in a rental car. Next project will to be restoring the supercharger, and improving the cooling system with it.

So time for a bump!

New engine is in the car!! Took only a day to pull the old one out and put the new one in. I will say the headers are not an easy fit. The clearances on everything was so tight I had to pull on one header just to slide the gaskets in between the y pipe and down pipes. Plus we had to hammer the beautiful things in to make clearance :( ... For $800 I shouldn't have to hammer anything. I am driving the car with open headers at the moment. I will have to go by an exhaust shop to have them replace the three bolt flange on my high flow cat with a two bolt flange. I also will have to extend my cat back exhaust a little more the cat doesn't bolt directly up with it. It comes up an inch short. Good thing though is it sounds like a cammed V8 and I love it!! lol

I am not done with the engine. I still have to switch the fuel rails out for my powder coated ones and I will need to replace my front valve cover with a black powder coated one. And powder coat the upper intake manifold Mini Surf Blue.

So open headers became old really quick lol. I was having headaches from the noise and carbon monoxide. Monday I went to an exhaust shop to have my prior exhaust fixed and to have my high flow cat fixed as well. The high flow cat had a three bolt flange I needed it to have a two bolt. The previous exhaust was bottle necked. So it was a 2.25 piping going into a 2.5. I can't tell any difference in the sound except at higher rpms. The acceleration is a night and day difference. The car shifts a lot smoother and the power is a lot more linear, the car doesn't feel like it is struggling to accelerate anymore.

Only problems I am having are a slight leak in the radiator, a vacuum leak, and my brake pads. I am still debating on whether or not I want to have the mishimoto radiator welded up or not. The vacuum leak I am unsure of. I believe it's either the pcv hose, injector o-ring, or the fire wall bank oxygen sensor. I know the sensor is bad but I don't believe it would cause both banks to read lean? The vacuum leak is minor it is not effecting the deliverablity of the car, the code is off, and on as well. The brake pads will probably be the most expensive replacement. I believe they are $180ish I cannot remember since I have to order through Rotora.

Reviving a dead thread to say the tiburon is pretty much dead to me lol. I hit a six pointer on Thanksgiving morning. I was able to drive it home without leaks but the insurance company totaled it. I got eight years and 140,000 miles out of it. So it did it's job I can't complained I learned a lot from it.
