Same motor too right? That's a pretty good deal. It's amazing how just wheels can completely transform the look of a car.

I put a feeler out on the Yokota Auto Enthusiasts page to see if anyone had any prior info on who used to own the car, but no bites yet.

Did some maintenance on the newly rebuilt motor this week. Things they did not change to new. Preventative maintenance for the future pretty much. New water pump, oil pump, timing gears, timing chain, tensioner, full gasket set from top to bottom.

Was hoping the cam was off a tooth on the timing chain but was not. Would explain me having to run about 25° of negative timing. Finally found out the cam was replaced during the rebuild and was not degreed. Adjustable cam gears are a pain with these motors since it a pushrod with the cam in the shortblock so i have decided to just keep the timing retarded.

Also upgraded to a Pertronix electronic ignition and flamethrower coil. Runs fantastic now!

Old vs new timing gears and chain

New oil pump

Also removed all of the factory smog equipment. Crazy how much useless stuff is on a motor.

Still no suspension yet but finally got tracking should be here and installed by next Saturday.

T3 Roll Center Adjusters

Hub, Hat, and Rotor assembled.

Front suspension starting to get installed.

Finished front pieces

Im the first person to use the new Urethane ends from Techno Toy Tuning so some of the hardware was sized wrong. Hope to have all the missing bits in a day or so to finish up the rear pieces and get the car back on the ground for an alignment.

Figured it was time I post an Update.

Front and Rear Suspension along with the Big Brakes are all on. Car has been aligned twice as I played with height adjustment. She is right where I want her now. I am very happy with it all!

Here she is. Still need to get some better pics.

I also Installed a Nardi steering wheel, Works Bell hub, and a new weighted shift knob.

Took her out this weekend to the Uncle Dave Macon Festival Car Show which turned out to be pretty much all Domestic. Surprisingly however I placed second in Pre-1990 Sports Cars which was nice.

The factory carburetor on the Celica went out on me 2 weeks ago. Since this carburetor of course had no available rebuild kit I sent it to Carburetor Exchange in California which specializes in older Toyota carbs and they pieced together a kit from other Toyota models. They did an amazing job. They even put the carb on a motor and set everything including my specified RPM. Got it back in the mail and on the car last night and its running amazing. Highly recommend them for anyone needing specialized carb work.

Dang, Its been a long time since I have been on here. Guess I could post a few updates.

Ill try to put a list of all the thing I have done since last July. Here we go!

First is carpet. I installed a one piece to replace all the stock that wasn't in great condition. Discovered under the stock carpet was Japanese newspaper throughout that was laid down as a moisture barrier. I left it in place because of how cool it looked.

Next I purchased a replacement rocker cover (So stock stays original) and ceramic coated it black. Installed that along with a K&N air filter. Car received all new exhaust all the way back including a long tube exhaust manifold but the manifold had poor fitment so was removed. Stock will stay in place for now.

I also custom made a front chin spoiler. Started with a brand new ABS Mach1 spoiler and trimmed it down then reformed all the edges by hand to get the desired look I wanted. Turned out great. Thought about making another just to have on hand.

Here are 2 photos of how the car looks as of this past Saturday at Cars and Coffee.

Now for those that may have seen it I did have the car listed for sale this past month. I have a son being born in May and was looking to get the Wife and I a new Sequoia. Car is just a toy. Family comes first but the wife loves it almost as much as me and we finally agreed selling it isn't the right thing to do right now. We had several cash offers that were close to what I wanted and a few trade attempts but none that convinced us to part with the car. All the listing have now been removed and the car will be staying in the garage.

I saw you had it listed for sale and it made me sad, I'm glad you decided to keep it. Thats an incredible piece of history and a true survivor. I know family comes first, but under no circumstances do I agree with giving up your passions and hobbies.
