Holy crap. Are there more than one style of metal bumpers for this car?
71-72 are stock smooth smileys
73-74 are stock smileys with bumpers
75 is bulky safety bumpers
76-77 coupe and liftback is bulky safety bumpers in the US
76-77 coupe and liftback are metal smileys in Japan and Australia only

Hence why they are worth so much. Never sold in the US.

The 71-72 Smooth Smileys are worth about $1000 a set

The 76-77 Liftback Smileys are $3000+ a set

I'll take it, and put it on a quick-release...

Classic Nardi Wood for the ladies.

Prison-Chain Steerin' wheel for the cholos.

Congrats, glad it went to somebody that will treat it right. I can't wait to see what you do with it. If it would have been posted up closer to bonus time, I'd have done the same thing lol.

Thanks, Will!

No plans for a J in this car. It'll have the stock engine for a while (no performance parts), but will eventually get a Beams with the attached 6-speed. That's way down the road.

To answer a question: If I didn't have the Supra - I'd J this car. I have a Supra that's fast enough. This car has more personality than to put a heavier, longer engine into it. It deserves something different.

[EDIT - added picture to give idea of somewhat of a goal/idea]

I would like to go in this direction, but not as "black"... I don't want a blacked out car, nor do I want a "race car". The classic Celica will have chrome mouldings and trim, as well as factory accents that set it off and give it an understated class, of which the car pictured maintains.

Sure thing, Ryan! You're always welcome to come over. I'll have an "engine pull party" ala Milon's house last year, but it will be for a craptastic 96HP, not a 700HP monster.
Let me know once you get this planned... I will head that way and help out... The picture you posted on your last post actually looks decent... Very Mustang-ish but looks good... The next car I build I plan on it being an older car as well, but I may go with an American chassis...

Mopar FTW, Milon!

Let's stick a 426 in that Celica and really hurt some feelings.

Moody, just drop it off at any of the shops that Brent has taken his car to for work... You will end up an extremely happy customer with a car that runs phenomenal..........

Oh wait... Might want to ask him about that...

Exactly! Lol. Much love Milon!
Just got a text with a link to your for sale ad :( Don't do it man!!! I love that car!!! Keep it and finish it unless you have something serious in mind (R34 GT-R?) since you would have the money from selling both cars...

I was thinking supra....

Anyways I'm feeling much better today about the situation. I'm going to let the listing run it's course with hopes it does not sale. Afterwards I promise to have her running again soon. No power builds. Just stockish and reliable from here out.

Mmm a Supra... That would be sweet!

For that price I would hope that it WOULD sell  but yes if it doesn't sell you gotta get it back on the road asap man! Such a clean chassis would be going to waste if you got rid of it...

Milon, lol.

This car will be done at home, with the only things that I cannot do being welding/painting. I'll do the rest myself (or with the help of friends), because this car is a serious budget build. Unless something happens that affects my health - it'll be on jack stands in the garage unless it's getting painted.

Can't wait to start... Just waiting on the wheels/tires, and parts for suspension, brakes, and restoration.

First update...

After an uneventful ride home from Murfreesboro, I realized two things in which I had already planned, but needed to be addressed ASAP: Brakes (have been waiting on them to come in but it's even more important, now), and steering (it's ridiculous-bad).

Pulled the interior out of the car (minus the dash). Pictures of that will come tomorrow. As far as putting the stock interior back into the car - I don't think that I'm going to do that, unless I can know that I can have it restored to perfect condition. I'm more apt at this point to get aluminum door plates made that use a tether-loop to pull the doors closed (ala Porsche), areas for the stock door locking mechanism and indoor handle to sit, and that's about it. I'd have them rolled on the edges and cut-to-fit for the entire inner door. Considering as well having the rear of the car done to match (hatch area, back seat area), and just having the dash, gauges, A/C, and some seats. I'm going to think on this one, because the car could either be done as-stock, or in this manner (as long as it was to an exceptionally high standard).

Besides that - trim and weather stripping is waiting at Toyota (thank you, ROMAN!) and wheels/tires should be here this week, along with most of the rest of the suspension.

Paint guy is coming to check it out on Monday, and hopefully we'll set up a time to get this thing over to his place, the rust out of it, and any body work done that needs to be finished prior to his painting it the stock blue.

Pictures soon, I promise. It's just too dark right now, and I'm extremely motivated to get this project well underway, which is why I've not stopped to take any for you all.

[EDIT] - almost forgot - something fun for you all. Ordered this:

It should compliment the period-correctness of the car, and be a nice accessory. If it sucks, then it'll just be a stock wheel.
