Supra...and yes I have driven one.

Joking :D ...well not about the driving part. Fun car but I wouldn't say it's the best.

I've gotten to drive a number of performance cars (valet parking FTW)...but I've never really gotten to push them to the limit

I got to drive my father's 911 one time...it was fun. Had good grip and nice power band.

Really hoping to drive a Z06 someday. Maybe even a Viper. Gotta love that torque 8)

Porsche 930 Turbo (or slantnose, but haven't driven that one)

Powerful, balanced, raw feel, and road-tested by many, proven by few to not get someone in trouble. This is THE Porsche to have.

Toyota Supra Turbo MKIV

So overbuilt from the factory that you needn't upgrade anything but the turbo, clutch, intercooler, and ECU to have a 500HP car at the wheels. Almost indestructable bottom end when boost is doubled, and indestructable transmission (unless stupidity involved). IRS, 4 wheel, 4 channel sensored ABS, better stopping than a Ferrari 360, better acceleration, too. Robust interior, quality components throughout the car, and a driving experience that's unlike anything else I've ever been inside.

BMW E46 M3

Refined, quick quality with reliability and superior build quality over most anything else on the road. Sophisticated driving at it's finest, with superior braking and handling, as well as decent acceleration and an engine tone that's wonderful. Great gearbox, great car.

if it had to have direction, i would say reality check. although not objective, i would vote for my car. now, the reason i asked for others input, is so i could hear others opinions on performance factors that i havent considered, and cars i haven't driven. as usual, Moody's post has been the most interesting. and sprayN306, i wasn't being rude, sorry if it seemed that way. i must say your answer surprises me. i have seen one or two mustangs at an autocross and considered them the exception. i blame my surprise on ignorance.

as for the dbw, i see it as a safety, and economic tool that takes more control away from the driver.
