they are very nice bikes. if you know how to control it you can start on any bike. you just have to take it easy they are fast bikes
CBR 929 for first bike?
Do you guys think that a CBR 929 is too much bike for a beginner?
I am looking into trading my 4wheeler for one, but I'm just afraid of it being way to much.
I have been riding dirtbikes and fourwheelers for about 5 years now, I know throttle control, and mosty importantly, respect for the bike.. I know you can't just hop on and twist the throttle..
I'm also about 220lbs at 5'11" so I'm not a small person, I can throw my weight around easy to control something.. (Which you do a lot in off-road riding)
Input please?

Very Good bikes.
On a street bike, at least from my experience, it's not about throwing your weight around. It's about being gentle. I drive a 1985 Suzuki GS550E. (Soon upgrading to a Yamaha R6.) and anytime I want to turn, i'm just very gentle, and very smooth with leaning. I've not yet been in a situation where i've had to quickly hurl my weight around.
Honestly, once you're comfortable on a bike and you know everything about it, and are respectful about the power it has, you just have to pay attention to other people. I've had to ride into the shoulder several times because of a soccer mom who doesn't pay attention and just comes over ontop of me.
In short, just be careful. Have respect for it and spend time getting to know it, how it responds, and all that good stuff.

i dont see why it wouldnt be a good first bike.
It just takes more judgement on the road with your speed.
When i had my 07 GSXR 600. I would be crusing feeling like im goin 60 and really going 90 so you have to be careful,ALOT different than any dirt bike. I knew a guy that was a very good dirt bike rider/racer. Went to the Great outdoor store financed a brand new bike, got outside started to go and the difference in the turning and throttle paniced him and sent it into the wall and totaling it before he even left the lot. Of course dont be the one weaving in and out of traffic and splitting cars with the throttle pinned.

Real good bikes. Just be easy on it til you get the hang of it. Its a very easy bike to wheelie. It wieghs about as much as a 600 but with more nuts behind it. Just make sure your comfortable on it before you trader for it.

Go for a Busa for your first bike...it's not that fast according to umcool911ok :wink:
dude this is something ive been around ALOT bikes and quads and for your first bike i wouldnt go with the 929 id get a 1000 there may be a lil more power, but they are tons more comfortable. 929 are good bikes but they just feel big and bulky when your on them. if it was me id go with a 03 or new cbr or gsxr 1000 and just watch your ass because they have tons and tons of power

im new to ridding too and im on repsol cbr 1000rr and that bike has too much torque for me so like everyone get something small to learn on
