We aren't all backwoods hicks who just wanna shoot stuff and get away with everything we can. There are a few of us, like me, who are very well educated and can more than hold a great conversation about this stuff.
And I recognize that. :)

OR Let's take the responsibility from rasing the kids away from the teachers and the government. It's not my job to pay for some kid who doesn't want to be in school to be there. Most Libertarians believe that it's not the governments job to educate, but are in support of lowering the cost of privatization of schools, or even having vouchers in order to help the parents pay for their children to get a better education.
I'm not saying that kids have to be sent to government run factories that you pay for to get their education, just that there needs to be standards for education so that we don't end up with substandard education. I don't recall paying a federal tax for my local school district.

You're partially correct. I believe more people need guns in the Bronx, cause they all have them in Cheyenne Wyoming. Plus, did you think that might have a direct influence on the crime rate?
I'm not sure i follow you here?

True, but you do pay local taxes. Government doesn't stop at the presidental level, and neither should our views on them. In fact, I don't feel education is a national issue, and shouldn't really be pursued in a national election. I say leave the electing to the elected officials, and the teaching to the teachers. You don't see my dad (a highly decorated chemistry/ physics/ calculus teacher) trying to run for a government position, because he's there to teach.

More people, as a percentage, legally carry firearms in Cheyenne Wyoming because of more laxed gun laws than in the Bronx, but if you really want to see how strict gun laws have increased the violent crime rate, look at our nation's capital. Washington DC is the most violent city in the nation... but I have one person to quote who might give a little more insight to the whole "gun control" thing.

Well, he's a Democrat... so that would be my first guess... You have to have a basic misconception to be an effective Democrat because of the beliefs of the party.

On the other hand, the elected officials could sit down with the teachers and figure out what needs to be taught so that everybody gets a good education.

Right, and it's the criminals that are the problem, not the guns. Just getting rid of gun laws isin't any better than having too many though. We need something effective that will keep criminals from getting guns, and that's no easy task.

I'd like to think i'm agreeing with you, but we're saying the same things differently and it sounds like arguing.

"He's a democrat" is not an effective arguement. You stated before that you can have a great conversation on the subject, but I was expecting something like "Obama is going to ban free speech and kill all our babies" - that would be an actual example of obama misunderstanding our liberties.

Yes that could happen. BUT those who are elected generally seem to forget that they represent the people, and assume that since the people trusted them enough to put them in a place of power, they must know exactly what they're doing. So I don't really see that happening...

I'll boil it down. I'm not against registration of guns, I'm against the overregulation of them. The price would come down if the regulations came off. More GOOD Americans would own them, and have them in case of a situation where they would need to own them. I see street crime dropping (with the exception of gang on gang violence) due to the fact that you never know who has something on them. This is a topic that Obama has been quizzed on, and he is very anti-gun.

Hell, Hitler said it well himself:
Adolf Hitler said:
"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing."

I meant that as a joke... perhaps I should have said "Obama eats Babies" or something like that... I thought it was funny at least...

I had an AWESOME site that outlined where both of the major candidates, and I have it bookmarked somewhere, but now I can't find it. I do recall that the only stance that Obama and I shared was Gay Marraige, and we agreed for different reasons. He thinks it's ok for a civil rights reason, and I think it's ok cause the government has no right to impose into anythng of a religious nature. Everything else (gun control, taxes, the war in Iraq) we were dead opposites. If I find it again, I'll post it.

Anyways, that's what I believe. and if you ever wanna talk politics, religion, etc, I have some really interesting views on some things... I'll be happy to talk about em!

OBAMA that who we need and he will be a very good president
Ok Obama supporters give me 4 points in this order try not to make a life story on it cliffnote it or what not but answer me this

1. How (do you think obama will fix the economy) or ( what is obamas plans for the economy)
2. How much sooner do you think obama could end a war than mccain without pulling out without full success. ( dont slander the term success as a sarcastic way of avoiding question
3. Without mentioning his race what expereince does he have with foreign affairs other than his publicity trip
4. What aspect of obama makes you beleive him even though what he has voted against is what he says he supports now

Ummm let me try...

1. He plans to use catchy taglines.

So in other words, things are already fixing themselves, the world is so dependent on us, they're going down as we go up. It'll be funny when we're better off than the world economy, and we go into recession again just into whoever's third year.

2. He can't. If he does, the world will hate him even more than Bush because we made a mess and didn't clean it up. And, if you're gonna pull our troops out of every country we help supply a backbone to, THE ENTIRE WORLD WILL CRUMBLE. People don't realize that we have a military presence on EVERY continent, we're always within striking distance of ANY foe we might encounter, and we supply SUPPORT to many underfunded countries and the people of corrupt governments. Pull out of Iraq? Well hell, I have friends in South Korea and Japan as well... we have troops In germany, africa, israel, russia, cuba, everywhere. Bring em all home, have the world beg for us to bring them back. Or just say what you think the people would want to hear to get you elected.

3. I can't.

4. I think the biggest difference is he is different from what we have now in every possible way. And by that, I mean he is nearly socialist in most of his beliefs... Look up the key principles of the Democratic Party and the key principles of Socialism. They're eerily similar.

I don't feel like typing it out. http://www.barackobama.com/issues/economy/

This depends more on the iraqis getting their shit together than who is president. Following here: http://www.barackobama.com/issues/iraq/ seems to suggest a staged force reduction that would have most of our forces redeployed in 16 months or so.

Loaded question, doesn't affect my vote.

Can you be more specific? What did he vote against that he supports now?
