Places around Nashville

What do you know about it? We were talking about moving to Knoxville, tn but now started looking in the Nashville area and I've found a few nice houses with a bit of land in Franklin, KY. Just not to sure what it's like up there. I know it's only about an hour away from Nashville which isn't to bad I'm hoping to get on with Nashville fire department working 24/48 so the hr drive to and from work would be ok. Just not sure if its a town the time forgot with no stores or is there actually life there. I googled it with no such luck, but then again I could be clicking the wrong links.

I've driven through there many times, but I never really explored around much. There seems to be a few stores and restaurants off exit 2, and it's not terribly far form Bowling Green. You might have to pay state income tax, with a Kentucky address, which you could avoid by living in Tennessee.

but sales tax is 6% instead of the 9.75% here and there is no tax on groceries there so even if you live in TN shop in KY because its cheaper

Frankin blows and you dont wanna live there unless you are over the age of 50 and like to just sit around the house all the time. There is nothing there at all and you have to drive to Nashville for anything cool. Bowling Green is close but it also suck and is just kinda in a time warp. Man i hate Kentucky.

I'll hopefully be working 24 hrs on and 48 hrs off so the drives no big deal. As far as away from everything is a plus for me The more land I can get the happier I will be.

Good Lord, I didn't realize how many small towns or cities there were around Nashville. We plan to be moving around April so looks like I'm going to have my work cut out for me searching through all the little cities around Nashville.
