I have a 98 GS300 where the rear passenger door lock didn't work. I replaced the door lock actuator with a new one and before testing it I put the door panel back on and closed the door.

The door now will not open from either the inside or outside. I cant get the door panel off to pull the actuator out since the door will not open. The actuator is connected to the door latch mechanism. I may have set the child safety lock to the "on" position when I put the door back together and shut it. The door handle seems to work from the inside but if the safety lock is on or if the door is still locked of course it wont open. When I use the power door locks all the locks work except for this door.

I've had a locksmith come out and he told me I need to contact a specialist. I talked to a specialist and he didn't want to touch the car.


I believe I need someone with a slim jim or similar took who knows this cars lock mechanism to jimmy the door open. Anybody out there think they can help my dumbass?

Break out the sawzaw. JK, if you can get the door panel off from the inside, you can use the rods inside the door to pull the handle up or down and you can deactivate the child lock. As well

I've thought about getting the panel off but its extremely hard. If I do manage to get the panel off I will break it. Trying to avoid this.

I had something like this happen on my G35. I was able to take get the door panel loose enough jimmy a screwdriver down in and open the door.

Thanks for the info. BTW replacing the door actuators wasn't as hard as I initially thought. If it weren't for this issue I would've had all 3 non working locks done in less than 2 hours.
