Injector Question

My eclipse gst 95 is finally running ...we just recently got a new valve cover because it was cracked and now I am waiting for my new radiator to come in. now my car is smoking rediculously. Its whiteish blue and sometimes whiteish gray! I've been looking up what it could be and it all leads is a bad turbo and valve stem seals. We checked my turbo and it does have a lot of play now (which yes I know means its going to eventually go out) but if its on its way does it start to smoke?

Well anyways back to my subject, so I came across a really good big 16g turbo deal. I just want to put it on and see if it gets rid of the smoke. So if I put it on do I HAVE to upgrade my fuel injector to 550cc or bigger or can I use my stock injectors and fuel pump. I know that we SHOULD but do I have to. I'm not putting it on at this moment for better performance. Just to narrow down my problem.

If its not the turbo I am chaning my valve stem seals. If its not either of those then I'm sooooo lost.

O and a little info on my car, its a 95 eclipse gst 1g bottem end with je pistons eagle rods with a 2g head, with the 90 cas (cam angle sensor) and 1g water pump.

Thanks for the help,
Rachel

Turbo Seals are gone most likely rebuild or replace. Injectors are fine unless you are boosting more, they will be fine to narrow a problem. You may PM me for help on anything else as well...
im running a big 16G on a built 6 bolt engine, still have stock injectors (450cc) but i do have a walbro 255LPH fuel pump, im running stock boost (12psi) and its runs VERY LEAN! on my NBo2 from 4k< it doesnt even register any fuel in the exhaust.

IMO go with 600cc's. good DD's and can put plenty of fuel in there if you want some more power.

i need to get bigger injectors if i want to up the boost safely.
^Don't blow up the whore man ;)
you definitely need new injectors if you go 16g. im running Evo VIII 560s on my FWD with a Big 16g and it's just right. that is with a Walbro 255 and a AFPR(which you also should get). trust me, it's definitely worth the cash. look to my sig for my thoughts on the stock turbo.

im about to go ported Evo3 16g with o2 dump on my AWD and im getting a TRE Fuel Pump 255 and RC 660 injectors. CANT WAIT!!!

WAHPSHH you definitely need new injectors if you go 16g. im running Evo VIII 560s on my FWD with a Big 16g and it's just right. that is with a Walbro 255 and a AFPR(which you also should get). trust me, it's definitely worth the cash. look to my sig for my thoughts on the stock turbo.
To Narrow the Problem like you want to do, you DO NOT have to get new injectors, & you can use your stock fuel pump. Now if you install the 16G & it fixes your smoking issue, before you go to boosting alot it is recommended that you then upgrade to bigger fuel injectors along with a fuel pump. Depending on your setup you want to choose the correct fuel pump size, ie. If using the stock FPR you may not want to go with a 255lph pump, a 190lph may be a better option. Be sure to choose the correct fuel injectors also.
what would be the point of going to the trouble to install a 16g if you are going to not do it right. if you go bigger turbo you odviously have plans of turning up the boost and you are going to need the right amount of fuel and some sort of ability to control it.

Clearly you don't pay attention - She was asking if she could put a different turbo(16G) on the car without replacing the injectors or pump to see if it takes car of the smoking issue. The answer the THAT question is YES you CAN. Now I understand that when someone looks for or buys a larger turbocharger they intend on upgrading fuel system parts... but that wasn't the question now was it. Question answered done....
I do pay attention. But the car also has
"Engine:
Blitz turbo timer
4G63
6 bolt with 1g bottom end
Oversized JE pistons
Eagle H-beam Rods
Arp stubs and head bolts
K&N air filter
3in down piping
Full Graddy Exhaust
Blitz BOV
Starion intercooler(got from blue)its modded to be a front mount for a 2g
Also has new spark plugs, spark plug wires, starter, & battery."

With these mods already I can guarantee it's not going to be run at 11psi with no further modification from here on out. Also, if the turbo has major shaft play there is no point in just putting the 16g on to "see". The car will run fine with factory injectors and fuel pump. I know, my fwd was run like that for a year. I was just giving her suggestions, dick.

You never answered the question, just said need new injectors. She said at the begining of the post that it wasn't for performance reasons.

I suggest that you leave name calling out as is may be more harmfull
to you than it would be to me. This is a discussion, not a place to call names like five year old does.

It was a "discussion" until you were a douchebag. And yes, I did answer it. She will need injectors if she wants it to run strong and efficiently especially since she is running many other mods.

"Harmful to me." Lol. Shit just got real. Give me a break.
Thank you

Well the 16g, yes it will eventually be tuned for more boost but right now at this moment I just want to put it on and see if it stops the smoke and if its ok to drive with stock injectors and fuel pump.

But my boyfriend will be leaving to go offshore again tomorrow for 28 days and I can only get outside to do so much.

But today I am going to go look for some controlers I just wanted to know if right now, its a MUST to get injectors to. I will most probably have to order them and when they get here he will be gone to put it on. I'm sure I could be it on myself but I have no second opinions here to make sure I did it right. In about a month the car will be tuned.

But thanks for the info.
O and so if my stock turbo does have a lot of shaft play but hasn't gone out yet! Do turbos smoke when they are on their way? Or only when they DO go out?

uneducated guess:

yes they smoke:

shaft play = bad bearings = bad seal = oil in compressor housing = smoke???

but who knows maybe im wrong

BUT you need to get bigger injectors ASAP
those je pistons are not as pretty when they have holes in them, but hey maybe thats the look your going for lol

I don't think that's going to happen I'm not running external coil that would be my worst case. I only have my stock ignition

...what?
Nevermind to hard to word on here...well either way racer answered my main question...but I just want to know if my turbo starting to go out, if it would smoke now or when its out and what color smoke.
Yes sprayN306, turbos smoke when they have excessive shaft play.
Here's another question lol. It smokes the worst at idle and decel...on accel its not so bad. Is that when a turbo would smoke on its way out or valves? Well we are about to start doing the swap. So I'll let yall know if this is it!! "Crosses fingures"
i dont think valves would cause smoking issues, since there not conected or lubricated by oil.
(guess, dont hold me to it)

good luck with the swap.
