The 240's done cosmetically, for a while anyway, so when i get a job (soon) my money will be going toward the build. I've pretty much ruled out an SR swap, however i'm still having trouble deciding between turboing the single slammer, or swapping in a DOHC. Both have there pros and cons, just like any decision. I'm just looking for some opinions to help me decide.
include a reason behind you suggestion if at all possible. KA-T>*

Miles? Just KA-T it and be done. Quick. Easy. Cheap.

Have a GOOD tune
Single slammer has around 184,xxx on it

CA18 swap. or KA24DE-T from what i have heard the SOHC doesnt do well under boost but i could be wrong
I've heard the same thing, that's one reason i'm asking for opinions

KA24E with 184K? Don't bother. Even in good shape the SOHC motors can't handle much (no piston oilers like the KA24DE and the factory turbo motors). There are also far fewer manifold choices. You'd just end up killing the SOHC motor, or run so little boost that you'd barely know the difference.

I dont really want to go SR, Lenny, because my dad has an Sr'd S14, and he's had a few problems out of it (expected with anything I know) and Matt's havin a hell of a time with his....I'd do an SR, if it werent more expensive, but being 16, a KA-T will suffice for now.

I know where there is a good DOHC KA for sale!!
how much? me s0n!

you should be able to buy a ka on the cheap, although finding a good one is a different story...

SR is the only way to go. Dont waste money on other things when youll just wanna go SR in the end.
x2 I was a huge ka advocate until I gave the SR a shot...Much more impressed with the performance of the SR. KA's have a tendency to blow up if you tune with anything short of full standalone. Plus the SR is just so rev happy, i love it.

SRs arent problematic ... matt (leeroy) is just trying to finance it, and as long as you buy one from a reliable source you will be problem-free

it comes as a factory turbocharged engine, which means youre probably going to have more problems out of an engine like the KA which was not factory turbo after you turbocharge it, to be honest

im not SR nutswinging, im just saying - its practical ... both are good options, just dont keep the SOHC

If you have never had a turbo KA then there is really no room to talk. I have had my KA boosted for over 2 years. 15psi daily and I really abuse the car. No problems at all. I have seen really good things from both the single and dohc. Please don't say things like it will last for 30 miles. If you don't enjoy working on your car then by all means do the sr swap little to no fab work involved. I really love the KA and how it performs but I also like the SR both are great engines. I guess I'm just a Nissan guy at heart.
