Ok as u all know ive been fucking with this Damn RB20det For a fucking year now.

Everytime i get close to finishing i run into somthing else. Now i have the car 80% togeather and have run into a continuous problem that i cant get passed.

I tryed to crank the car, i am getting fuel and all power the car turns over but doesnt start. I have replaced the Wiring harness 3 or 4 times and get the same end result, ive changed the ignitor with a z32 ignitor retrofit and 3 diff z32 ignitors and still notta, i tried the ecu and swapped it same thing, checked engine codes it throws code 55 wich means all ok. Im just dumbfounded the coils are recieving voltage and the only thing i can think it is are the coil packs, but for all 6 to die at once is like hitting the Lotto it just doesnt happen. If there is anything u guys can think of ive got $100 for the person that can get it running. If i keep messing with it im just gonna burn it to the ground out of anger.

The cam angle sensor(cas) will tell it when to spark. If you have another cam angle sensor, unplug the one on the motor, plug up the extra one, pull out one of the coil pack to look for spark, turn the cas by hand, and see if you get any spark. If you don't have an extra one then pull it out carefully, and then turn it by hand. No spark:possible cas failure, Spark:another issue other than cas. You don't want to break the aligning piece on the cam or the sensor that's why it's good if you have an extra cas to play with.
Also double check your grounds.

would like to help, but I don't have a 20 and it is probably a bit different than my S1 rb25, but someone here is likely to know the answer: http://forums.nicoclub.com/zeroforum?id=135

it is an RB specific forum, most of them have the motors in an S chassis.


CarlH is especially good with electrical issues, and he does have an Rb20.

yeah talk to carl h, dude is a walking encyclopedia on RB's (especially 20's)..he did my harness conversion as well as converting my tachometer and speedo. i can give you his number if you need it


it's not completely out of the question to have 6 coilpacks go out either, i've seen it before.
