slow drivers

Why is it people are driving slow lately? Usually on the roads i drive everyone does a considerable amount over the speed limit, but here lately i have been getting behind people on 2 lane roads that are doing 5-20 miles under the speed limit. Is everyone thinking that driving 5 miles an hour on a two lane road is really gonna help them conserve gas... Or are people just gettign so bad that they just want to piss people off? I was behind a van today on daisy dallas road on my way to hwy 27 to come to work, the van was going literally 10 mph!!!! the whole time we were on this road until i turned on to the on ramp. Then, i am coming up on the morrison springs exit and a dumbass in an old beat up accord gets in front of me causing me to actually have to use my brakes and he rode door and door with the suv beside him for at least a mile swerving at them due to his inability to text message, drive, and talk to the 4 passengers in his vehicle. Finally, he sped up and let me pass him and actually gave me the finger whilst i pass him and try to get back up to the speed limit( he was going 45 miles per hour, the speed limit is 65). Thank for reading i just wanted to vent its been a long day, i have no smokes and i am trapped inside for 8 hours.

So? Driving that slow isnt going to save gas... It's retarded.
Making sure you dont race around will save gas, As long as you watch your foot It wont matter
if your doing 70...

My girlfriends car gets 42MPG doing 70+ if you dont get into the gas pedal...
She drives an 08 cobalt ... Mine gets 30 doin 70+

Doing 45 isnt going to save any more gas than doing 70 if your not Heavy on the gas...
55 is where you get the best mpg.
I agree, it is all about how you drive the car, if you keep your foot out of it you will get better gas milage. And some, would argue that you get better gas milage at an exact speed but that cannot be true no two motors are completely identical, even if completely bulit and assembled by a machine. 55 could not be for all cars... maybe for like a 91 honda accord but you get behind the wheel of a ford taurus(for example) and it could be at its best efficeincy* at 60 who knows.[/quote]
cheap gas expensive gas, ur gonna have to fill up regardless if ur driving anywhere...i try to consereve gas too, but can you really resist, the vtec!? lol i cant, so i have to gun it once in a while, u know, to get the bugs out ;)
haha. Appearantly Thursday (this past one) gas in chatt was expected to skyrocket a dollar fifty a gallon to make it 5 dollars a gallon and there were disputes and fight calls coming out left and right while i was at work everyone was affraid of a gas shortage which there is not it was hilarious. and i even waited til 11(when i get off and gas was expected to go up at 12) and gas had stayed the same it was hilarious. Since then, the price has gone up 40 cents to 3.90 a gallon haha
I hit Wangan speeds on every road...no matter the traffic or corners.
Speed has pretty much nothing to do with how good your car is getting to the mile. Its how fast you get there is what matters
if you need to drive 10-15mph slower to save gas get a different car. If you baby your car around to get better mileage get a different car.
You guys there is a gas shortage! I went to a gas station on post today and all pumps were closed, so I went to the next one and all they had was premium (which is what I use)... but reguardless,... this is insaine! We should all convert to that corn-oil stuff and make this state smell like french fries all the time!

I find the irony that the OP drives a Honda
Who you talkin about?
does anyone know what he is ever talking about????
I don't think so.... since we all don't own Rx8's. But that's his point. to be 100% retarded.
Actually, there is a theory to it all. I had to go to a traffic class in March, and they had charts and stats that said once the "average" [whatever that may be] car hits 45 mph, your car burns more gas to get you to your desired speed. I'm not saying that all cars are just like the ones they tested, but it seemed to make sense when we saw all the stats about it. Just my input. I drive an Eclipse, filled up from 1/8 of a tank at $3.78 per gallon and only paid about $37. I say, go DSM. haha

That's what I've always known too.
So no matter how fast you go you burn the same mount of gas?

Hmm, I always thought that the faster you went, the more wind resistance there was, which in turn makes you burn more gas. Dunno though.
No... not saying that at all. The faster you go obviously the more gas you're gonna burn.
