same with suby's they tick and slap like rabid donkeys in the cold. I run 5w40 all year though.I would only run 5w30 in my Civic at any time. No point in running 10w30. The cold engine noise for the most part is normal. Honda coined it the "cold engine piston slap" and considered it normal. My 97 HX use to sound like it was coming apart for the first mile or so then it went away.
Ever heard an H6 upon PDI startup (Pre-Delivery Inspection)? They sound like ball-bearings have been dumped into the engine with no oil in it, and the scary part - they keep doing it for over a minute when it's cold.same with suby's they tick and slap like rabid donkeys in the cold. I havent heard that no. Its funny though to see all the post on NASIOC about there engine sounding like its comming apart on cold starts. Then the next 10 replies are its cool dont worry about it lol.Ever heard an H6 upon PDI startup (Pre-Delivery Inspection)? It's true... Matt's engine does it, mine did, David J's does, Chandler's did... it's funny how they sound, but within 10 seconds, it's gone. I love those engines, because they are tough and can take alot of abuse, yet are decently efficient. (and, you can basically do anything that you want with the motor inside the car - valvejob, etc...) instead of having to pull the entire thing out and play around with it, lol. When the FEDEX guy would come to my old dealership, he would literally HAND me the box with the bottom end in it that was going to be a replacement. How funny.I havent heard that no.
