It is a Type-RS JDM BOV. i couldnt here it last night. i heard it this morning on the way to work but its not very loud. i have the adjustment all the way to the hardest setting. so...how do i make it louder? Is it hooked up right? thanks again guys! here are some picks to help.

you take it off and get something else! Thats how I would fix it. Turbo xs rfl is a loud bov and trust me you will be able to hear it! It also depends on how much boost your running cuz the more the louder it is, but I just believe you cannot here yours because its a cheaper version. Id go with the turbo xs rfl "really fucking loud".

I can't believe I'm going to give you technical advise on something like this but here we go.
Unless you running some 20-ish psi you do not need to adjust the spring compression on the valve, you aren't moving enough air to open that thing with the adjustment screw full tight.
Next, I'm going to assume this is a MAF car and a vented to atmosphere BOV is a waste of money and will help your car run poorly unless your stock Diverter Valve (DV) was leaking. I would remove it and sell it and start saving for a turbo back stainless exhaust. If you have that get you an upgraded intake like HKS MF, start thinking about tuning.

Yes if you put the BOV before a MAF in a blow through set up you can do that, though that affects your tuning and I wasn't going to touch on that subject in order to prevent confusion over the what is pictured above (I'm going to say that car isn't ready for a blow-through setup).

it works great!...but i took off my exhaust cause there was something in it. im replacing it this week. its not loud cause i have no back pressure due to my exhaust not being on. and about it being a knock off....im a college student ='s no money. so i say, if it works keep it!

Ah dude, that can be easially tuned away even with the stock ecu. There is no way I would ever recirc a bov..... Its just too easy to set up the ecu properly. Its all with the decel adjustments in both timing and fuel, also min and max pulsewidths. Its really a cinch!
You run a map system though right?

Yea, thats about the turth. Nathaniel had one for a little while. He said it used to make a noise when he first had it, I always thought it was quiet but I didnt know him when his made the noise. The bottom oring is completly shot on it now and I gave him a different bov to try. I think the only reason his worked for him so long is because he car uses a map sensor.

And btw, if you adjust it all the way hard, its not going to blow off. When you have that bov adjusted all the way hard your not even allowing the spring to work, the adjusting bolt completly holds the piston down.

Your hearing compressor surge and thinking it sounds cool (which it does) but is bad and you dont even need a bov for that.

For low hp a hks bov will work just fine. Turbo xs works good too but I dont think they are great for lower boost applications. Even with mine all the way soft I hear a little surge before it blows off if I get like 3 lbs on a shift.

Get rid of cheap shit. I have a cheap ass bov and it is NOT recirculated although it should be. It runs like ass and hesitates from time to time. and did i mention boost leak? The guy before me when ebay crazy.. Drivability> cool sound

Sure you can tune around it, but do you really think that this kid with rocks in his exhaust is gonna tune his decel adjustments for a vta bov:-?

this appears to be on a 7m-gte motor which the bov doesn't blow through the MAF. The MAF is litterally right behind the airfilter... actually if I remember correctly the airfilter actually attaches to the MAF.
