Always told him it looked like baby shut green in pictures tho... haha can't wait to see this build!
Ha yeah it does. Classic 72/73 color.

Thanks!

Nothing really new to report as of late. My brother is still taking the interior apart bit by bit, labeling and tying up wiring, etc. I will make a trip to come back to TN sometime in February so we can pull the engine/gearbox and prep the chassis for paint.

Yesterday I got in touch with a guy in the Bay Area, CA, who can take my cracked dash from above and turn it into this below.

Going to send it off when I can get it out along with the center console.

Just curious, how much is that gonna run ya and what kinda material is that?? I really like that, my 260 dash looks pretty rough and that ^ looks way better than a dash cap!!

Guy is in the Bay Area, CA, and he quoted me around $200 to mend the dash and then flock it. It's a synthetic material similar to Alcantara, but probably not that branding. It will probably be more expensive since I'm having my door panels and transmission tunnel vinyl done also, so there's that and shipping for all pieces.

the white series one is gorgeous..

if you want to sell the A/C stuff from the green one i'll buy it...
I forgot all about this post, but if you're serious I pulled it all out mostly intact.

Small update, I came back from Japan on leave and tore it all apart. Waiting on bodywork, chassis improvements, and paint.

I haven't really done my due diligence with this thread as is evidenced by the swath of broken links I just fixed, so all the previous pictures are back up to see.

I went back home in May and took the whole week off to pull the car completely apart.

So this is the way the car currently sits in my parents' garage in TN. Sometime this spring, I'm sending the car off with Andrew at Keisler Automation to start on the next phase of the build. If you know this guy, you know the fantastic things of which he's capable. In the meantime, I've been parts gathering for the build while in Japan...some things I will talk about and others I will wait until the buildup is complete before I reveal them.

I pulled another set of vintage black long stalk Fairlady Z fender mirrors as well as a front grille sometime last year. I guess I never actually never took a pic of them, but they're pretty standard.

I bought a set of repro Japanese tail lights from a producer in Canada. They're pretty much unobtainium even in Japan, and it's just a lens anyway.

The first 2 of these came in a couple weeks ago. The last 2 will take another 3 months to make. Watanabe R type 16x9.5 -19.

I have a set of carbon fibre slim bumpers front and rear, carbon ZG flares at standard width, and rear 432 spoiler. Again, no pictures.

I'm in the process of purchasing a pair of Recaro SR-7 KK100 for the car. Waiting for my funds meter to recharge. The yen rate is just ludicrous right now which makes everything seem like it's on sale.

This all seems pretty superficial show parts, but there's alot of go parts I'm not showing here that will be pretty cool when it's all tied together.

Went back to the US for training about a month ago and went home every weekend to visit family and mess with the cars.

Pushing it out to the light of day.

Ran out of time or I would have pulled the pistons and rods out and had the crank and block sent off, so that's my brother's project over the next little bit.

Request sent. I can't do it cheaper than others unless it's fairly small like 24"x24"x24" box size. At that point, sea freight ends up being the better deal and my schedule kills being able to go out and find stuff for people.

We'll have to get together here at some point when this thing is done this decade haha. I can drive the white car until then though.

That engine looks pretty simple...
It is, which is a good reason why I'm going with it as opposed to an RB. It's a notoriously strong engine and there are still blocks, heads, and cranks floating around, so if I grenade one I won't be SOL. I'm going to keep alot of details under wraps about the rest of the car, but the engine won't even be the best part, so I will tell you that I'm shooting for 500whp out of an EFR8374 turbocharged standalone L28 displacing 3000cc, aiming for power ~8000+RPM. I think it can be done, so I'm going to see.

The second pair of RS Watanabe R types just arrived at my parents' house after about 8 weeks worth of droning across the Pacific Ocean. They'll sit around until I'm near done with the car, however long that ends up taking.
